'13 PG Josh Newkirk

If they get Newkirk with Nubbols and JW3 that would be nasty! That would instantly make us a contender in the future.

Nubbols? Is that a Nichols/Hubbs combo haha?

Unless we're taking 5 I don't think we take a PG, my hope is we do though.

Any updates?

Has gotten very quiet which is a bit of a change since he had been pretty vocal about his recruitment. I'm guessing he's going to take an official to all 4 schools that he's still open to.

Our recent interest in Terrence Samuel could be 1. A sign the staff isn't all that confident with where we stand with Newkirk or 2. Just completely unrelated and another good prospect they're just trying to get a feel for.

It appears the ship has sailed. His new Final Four is Pitt, Memphis, Ga Tech and Missouri per this link.

Well I guess that is that for Newkirk. Could mean that either Martin cooled off on him or he cooled on us. I for one think that we will land a pg and I dont think it will be Landry. I also think that CCM is bound and determined to land a pg in this class. I would like to see the Samuels kid land here but don't know how much mutual interest is there.

I don't think he cooled on us, we were in his top 4 and then kind of quit following him around. Either we like Samuel more, CCM is gonna roll with Landry, or he's going without a PG this class because he feels confident with a lot of the highly rated guys were in on.

So do you think Landry can get it done? I hope so but with him going to Huntington Prep I think that kind of hurts his ability to show what he can truly do at that skill set position. I think he was the man at the prev hs and now goes to being a roll player for a powerhouse such as Huntington. Maybe I am being a negavol but I dont see him as a vol Jmo.

Hell be a starter at Huntington, he wasn't the star at his previous high school either though, he played with a couple very talented guys.

Many think that's why he transferred. Being a passing PG who doesn't have much offense you need good players around you. Well, Huntington Prep is loaded, he will probably average 10 assists a game there which will make him look very good.

I don't think Landry could ever be a very good starting PG for the Vols. I think he could be a serviceable backup for us if we surround him with talent. He's a quick guard, likes to pass first, and is a very good quick defender. He doesn't have much offense at all though, and that will really limit him IMO.

Id be surprised if he ended up signing with Tennessee, but stranger things have definitely happened.

Hubbs may very well be able to play the point in college even though the doctors said he's not finished growing yet .

I see no chance of that.

His biggest weakness is ball handling, so I don't think you want him at point.

Also, already being 6'6" that's a big a$$ PG.

He's working on his bh skills and some point guards in the nba are at his height or bigger . I'm not saying he'll play pg but i'm imagine he'd like to . Only time will tell .

Not trying to be argumentative, but I just flat out disagree. Yes he's working on his ball handling, but because it his biggest weakness not because he wants to be a PG, you're the first person I've ever heard mention it. He hasn't played it in AAU or high school, I find it pretty slim he wants to, if he wanted to he would've been.

And how many NBA PG's are 6'6" plus? I can't think of many, actually not counting lebron I can't think of any.
