WHy not just take a breath and cool down, and maybe wait untilt Johnson commits somewhere before you start this stuff again.

And, if Johnson can't go to one of my alma maters, he might as well go to the other.

Nick King is the one that Pastner must get, and he will get him. I'm pretty confident of that.

I'm perfectly "cool" just find it comical is all. If we lose Nichols and land another big I can assure you I won't be saying, we didn't want him anyways, I just think that's literally childish.

I'm not talking about just you, as fans, suck it up say you wanted Johnson and that you likely took a guy you wanted less and in the long run may have cost you a committ from the guy you really wanted.

That's why you're, eh I'm fine with it, we got Crawford, was a bit surprising considering your view of both guys.

Is Johnson a 'need' now? No, we have Crawford, a great 2 guard.

Is he a 'want'? Absolutely, that hasn't changed.

If he got his feelings upset about the Crawford commitment, and wants to go elsewhere, I can understand that. But there's room for him in our 2013 class.

You're missing what I'm saying.

I just find it comical you were saying "Crawford who" a few months ago, and we could have him you didn't want him. Now he committs to memphis and all of a sudden it's eh if we got Johnson ok, but if not no biggie. Crawfords a "great 2 guard" when a couple months ago it was Crawford who.

Like I said, it's not just you, our football fanbase is notorious for that, Santos being the most recent I recall. I just always find it funny when any fanbase does that.

Okay. Explains your dedication to Memphis and the U. I just thought you was one of those dreaded bandwagoners! :peace2:

The two thoughts aren't mutually exclusive. From UM's POV, Crawford was near/at the bottom of a longer-than-usual list of Memphis BB talent. Won't speak for MC, but off my radar in light of bigger talent pool. He "explodes" in '12 spring, has a great eval period in April, and offered in May. Has much more swagger, but remains at the bottom. He's very much a UT-get still; nothing's changed.

Serious injury; feels future slipping away. Calls his coach; talks for two hrs; decides he want to take UM offer. Pastner wants two BIG's, SF, and either SG or combo or both. Gets combo, good size, lock-down D. Obvious to me need for SG now not as great. MC says SG/Johnson still on list; just not as pressing. Worst case, Ja J takes another path (UT, L'ville, 'Canes); UM okay.

^ and that's fine, I just find it funny like I've said it's not just him it's all fanbases. A few moths ago when I said UT led for Crawford MC was a smarta$$ and said Crawford who? Haha you can have him. Now Memphis gets him and MC says "hes a GREAT 2 guard".

I just always find it comical how the perception of recruits change when they sign with your team or spurn you. They go from nobodies to great players, or great players to we didn't want them anyways. As I said, it's not just MC, UT football fanbase is the same way, it's just funny to me.

I remember the conversation; it was prior to our scholarship offer. If you recall, we hadn't even offered Crawford prior to his big Spring. Then he blew up, we offered. Even at that time, I assumed he was a low-priority. We needed either Crawford or Johnson in this class. We've now got Crawford, Johnson is not as high of a priority.

Yes I remember, it's just comical. I find it funny you're response was "Crawford who" and now it's "he's a great 2"...just funny that's all.

At the time, Crawford wasn't on the radar. "Crawford who?" (if I even said that), was an appropriate response.

Like I tell you almost daily around here, recruiting is a fluid process.

It's as funny as you saying "UT leads for Crawford" at the time, I guess.

Not at all, what I said was true, what you said wasn't close to the truth and just a biased opinion that turned out to be completely false.

If you'd like to go read it I said he was up and coming and would shoot up the rankings and make a big splash. Apparently I was correct.

However, do you have anymore scouting predictions while you're at it that you'd like to make?

What I said was true as well. Crawford wasn't even on Memphis' radar at the time. How is that hard to comprehend?

You bringing the "Crawford who" comment up now is like me going back and pulling your quote when you "predicted" that UT was in the lead for him and throwing it in your face.

Big difference read slow...

UT was in the lead, thus what I said was true.

"Crawford who", suggesting he was an unknown, wasn't true at all. He was a well known prospect, maybe not to you, but he was a well known prospect who many who follow recruiting knew was going to be a top 100 player.

"Crawford who" suggesting he was not on Memphis' radar was ABSOLUTELY true. He was a Junior in the Metro-Memphis area that didn't have a scholarship offer from Memphis when I made that comment. Nick King, in contrast, has had an offer since he was a Freshman. Crawford broke into the top 100 lists after his big Spring, which is when Memphis got interested.

“It’s been going good,” Johnson said of his recruiting process. “I’m trying to narrow down my five.”

“I basically have my five of Alabama, Memphis, Louisville, Texas and Miami,” the Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind standout said.
Playing for the Bluff City Legends, Johnson knew he would get some good attention, but didn’t expect the school interest to roll in like it did in the spring.

“I was surprised,” Johnson said. “I wasn’t expecting to get the attention I got because I was behind J3 [Johnathan Williams] and Nick [King].”

With his list of five, Johnson’s next step is to begin taking visit. He currently has two dates and is working on a third.

“I’m taking my visits throughout the season,” Johnson said. “I have three planned right now. I’m going to Miami September 15, Texas for October 6th and I’m going to be planning my visit to Alabama real soon.”

Johnson said he’s planning to also visit Louisville and Memphis. At this point, Johnson doesn’t claim a leader.

“Not right now,” he responded when asked if anyone stood out. “They all are calling me everyday.”

Johnson did mention Memphis’ recent commitment Markel Crawford may impact his recruitment.

“They had got Markel and they are still recruiting me,” Johnson said.

“When Markel committed they were still recruiting me and I didn’t understand that because they got Markel,” he added. “They are involved, but that was

Sry I cut off the article...agree with you Bleeding, although it doesn't appear JJ was ever a priority for CCM

No he wasn't, more of a backup. Appears CCM is all in on hubbs nichols and jw3, and is stringing along Stephens, Davis and foster.

Sounds like Johnson is coming back around to the Tigers. He may need to announce before Dez Wells does though,
