Did he give the "new" Tennessee a chance? Last time I checked he is free to go anywhere (nothing has been signed). He should hop in a car and drive over to Knoxville this weekend, kick the tires, and talk to Coach Jones. He gave Tennessee a more than equal chance to land him. He has visited the Vols 6-7 times. When you have coaching changes and three losing seasons in a row elite talent loses interest. Like many have said he didn't grow up a UT fan, so that isn't going to pull him to UT. He hasn't bad mouth UT so hop off this high schoolers back. I want him just as bad but he sees justifiable cause to look elsewhere.
I always knew that among all of his various other failures....Dooley was just not a very good bottom kisser. If the kid signs with UF, here is hoping when he comes to town in the fall of '14 he and his UF brethen get a taste of the Butch Jones era. And along with that he receives the welcome back that he so richly deserves.Jalen has been to campus several times... He has seen what a gameday is like, but this kid has grown up seeing TN in a negative light unfortunately. Dooley and Co. didn't help us out either by their lack of making this kid a priority like other schools and losing games which showed the ugly side of our passionate fanbase.
I know his old HS coach well and have talked with him about Jalen specifically. He was enamored by USC and the pitch Kiffin and Co gave him about being at a national championship contender and being #1 on their board... Ultimately he would like to stay closer to home or in the south, so I think Florida is where he will end up. His teammate Max Staver (QB) is committed there and he has the opportunity to play with Vernon Hargreaves, another shut down corner, which Muschamp has done a good job selling him on.
It's unfortunate that he wouldn't give coach Jones a chance, but this loss belongs solely on the shoulders of the Dooley regime for lack of productions and making this kid feel like he was the #1 priority.
Best of luck to the kid except for when he lines up against us.
I think it's pretty humorous when people talk about these young men like they are traitors to UT if they don't want to come here. We have a roster full of young men from other states. I have yet to see someone comment that they were traitors to their home state.

I don't think many Vols initially embraced Kiffin. It was more like forced acceptance.
I'll admit it, I was 100% on board with Kiffin up until the day he left.
Vols fan, but I couldn't stand him from the start.
