13' TN C Sam Edwards

Edwards is a very, very long range project that comes with a lot of baggage. Attented 4 high schools in 3 years. Needs a lot of work and barely played on a 1A team. He is not worth the trouble that comes with those around him.

I've heard similar things Galilee. More than half of his offers, including Memphis, are not solid IMO. He would have trouble committing to most of the schools he claims he has offers from. Tennessee can do much better and there is a reason we haven't offered.

Good to see you on the board. Where are you at now? You have moved on from Mitchell, no?

Hearing the same rumblings as well. Undoubtedly, there will be grade issues with that many transfers in those years and obviously attitude rumors as well. Seems like Counzo is at least giving him a look. It'd be one thing if we had a lot of depth at the 5 and could waste a scholly on a project that could turn out to be a gem. However, we don't at this time. Hopefully, Yemi will turn out to be a solid contributor over time.

Memphis is still in 1850.

Lived in Memphis for four years, and it is a wildly segregated city. Knoxville is too, but there is just a smaller presence of people of color in general. It's odd. I liked Memphis, but to be honest, it has all the same problems of any large southern city, i.e. New Orleans and Atlanta.

Please. It has good and bad like any other big city.

I agree...I loved my time in Memphis, but it does have its problems. Cities are just like that, and as opposed to cities in the north, I think the south is far more honest and up front with their issues, especially racial issues. While this may not always be productive, I appreciate that people don't always try to act like there's not a problem when there is. I'd take Memphis over places like Baltimore or Pittsburgh any day.

Edit: I'll take Knox over them all though. Always going to love home.

i see Knoxville is still stuck in 1950...

Sam doesnt have an attitude problem! Also...I understand why he changed schools. If you saw the teams in 1A, you'd know that he isnt equipped to play that style of ball. He will be about 7'2" by start of next season. Growing so fast that his body cant keep up, no control over it.

Fwiw is also up to 7'1" and is being told he's still growing probably 7'3" doctors are telling him by end of next year.

My sources are telling me he will wind up around 8'7 this time next year. With a 62" vertical too. 9' wingspan as well.

Geez sorry for trying to share some info on a recruit, didn't mean for it to turn into another stokes growing thread. Just thought I'd give an update on the guys height.

Bleeding, who cares about his height man!! What's important is "what size shoe does he wear?" From now on I expect to see shoe size in every recruits thread when you list their rivals analysis. :birgits_giggle::birgits_giggle::birgits_giggle:

Touché.

I'll sneak into the locker room during halftime of one of his games and see what I can come up with. Right now I'm guessing size 19, with an estimated full grown Edwards sporting a size 23.

I expect to see a few offers like Edwards in the next few years, in the event we can't pull in the out of state talent.

We'd be doing good in 013 if we just pulled in some of the in state talent like Nichols, WmsIII, Crawford and Hubbs.
Might have to supplement with guys like Craft, dyson and Johnson.

013 will be interesting and recruiting might depend on how far Martin takes the team next season.

Yup. Martin can really get down to business if he lands the TN elites in this next class.

Terrible recruit.

I've seen some with this opinion and others with the opposite. It seems the consensus is he's a 7'1" big man that has only been playing ball 3-4 years and is raw. People say he's a hard worker and is really working hard to become better and supposedly is working with a post coach. More should come out from a scouting standpoint during aau ball this summer and we should get a much better idea of what he brings.

In any regard, at 7'1" if he's the least bit athletic if coached properly can be an effective C for us. We are in dire need of post men in the 2013 class so I have no problem with this offer at all and would like to pull him since our chanes with kinglsey seem to have dwindled.

If you land: Landry, Hubbs, Thornwell, Crawford, Nichols & Edwards that's solid IMO. Nichols will play the 4 and yemi the 5 and Edwards can play a year behind yemi still professing in his basketball skills. Maybe I'm overestimating him, but unless hes completely uncoordinated and unathletic(Kenny George) then I say bring him in.
