Let's at least wait till they sign with another program before we start bashing them... and by all means bash the opposing programs.

Agree with not bashing, but these forums are all about conjecture and questioning certain unexplainable events. These forums would be pretty boring otherwise.

No doubt. Northern chicks are ugly, rude, or both. He chose wisely.
I assume your lack of spelling prowess can be blamed on your great grandmother then.

Look, I made a comment about Ole Miss' problems with the Rebel name and symbolism and was immediately called "stupid" and "a moron" by Vol fans defending Ole Miss. Nothing rude about reponding to that... ignorant mindset.

I hope that Tennessee fans and recruits realize that those posters are not Tennessee fans and are fans of other schools who are afraid that Tennessee football will be back where it was in the 1990s. They will do anything to undermine our program.

I get what you are saying and agree, but there are a lot of posters on VN who post frequently and I am sure they believe they are Vol fans who bash recruits and players on a consistent basis. A frequent phrase is "he sucks". I agree this shouldn't determine where a kid goes to school, but it just might be the thing that tips the scale one way or another when the kid is on the fence. :hi:

Does ole miss have an issue getting black student athletes on campus due to said symbolism?
Obviously not, so it is a moot point as far as recruiting.

Actually they do. Other programs in border states have been cherry picking Mississippi recruits since desgregation. They keep thinking it will change, have had some highs and lows, but as I said, I don't think they can ever win an SEC championship until they lose the Rebel thing. A stigma like that can last centuries.

And people have been cherry picking tn recruits for years. Must be due to Pulaski and Nathan b Forrest.
Let us know when the 70's call and say they are ready for you.

Hey! I live in that remark. Forrest Gump's great great grandaddy would never cause us to lose recruits

Since we're so off topic, when reading the Killer Angels I found myself pulling for Longstreet.

Dude, 80% of their football team is said oppressed color. I don't think it matters. They've been having trouble getting high-caliber players b/c they haven't been as good as other teams generally, not b/c of their mascot.

Lee should have listened to him at Gettysburg.

If I remember correctly that's the first time lee didn't follow his advice about fighting on open ground . Longstreet had the advantage in a war of attrition digging in on higher ground. But on that day, he knew he was leading lambs to slaughter. Lee must have grown tired of the tactic.

Dude. It does to many. We're only two generations past public lynchings. Virtually all the parents and grandparents of black people in Mississippi were directly affected. Some second and third tier players in state may tend to overlook some things, but Ole Miss does not come close to leading recruiting of the top players in its own state. Why do youy think they banned the Confederate flag as a school symbol?

Auburn Lsu and ala winning championships recently might have something to do with highly ranked players going elsewhere. It could be simple human nature. People like winners.

The University (of Mississippi) Grays were among the lambs. I guess you can give them credit for volunteering. Most if not all of the UM students then would have been exempted from the Confederate Conscription Act simply by their parents signing three slaves over to them.

These forums sure do drift during dead periods... and I helped.

It was my post you responded to. The post was about bashing recruits and the possibility of banning posters who do so. No where in that post will you find Ole Piss mentioned. Yet for some reason you managed to make a bizarre connection to the sons of the confederacy. How you did that I have no clue.. I didn't call you stupid, I said your argument made you look stupid because it was illogical and made NO sense. Go back and read my original post and if after re-reading it, you still think I was defending Ole Miss, you are either seriously confused or a liar and are just looking for ANY reason to start an argument about race..

My apologies to VolNation. I went back and read my post just to make sure I did not say anything that led to this mess. If it's there, I'm not seeing it.. Anyway, sorry for the massive derailment...

I pointed out the reason they haven't & still for the most part don't lead for the top players in their own state. Same reason that MSU doesn't lead for the top players in MS. It's that they haven't been elite. LSU, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas, & now A&M have gotten & will forseeably get the prime recruits. Ole Miss is on the rise with Freeze, but that will only last as long as he doesn't get caught for something.

Your point is that MS black men get differentially offended by the confederate flag based on their football skill level. My point is that there has been a success differential, & thus other programs are getting MS's best. Which is more plausible?
