He's a very good player with a high Basketball IQ. I like the Hampton kid a lot that plays with him also. Package deal would be great. He deserves the offer!

Sixth SEC offer = solid player. I'll admit I can't wait to see where he ranks, eventually. Zo doing some work for 2013. Looks like we might have a monster class!

Thanks for posting, Chris.

Rankings aren't always accurate. The kid can play. Very good on the defensive end of the floor.

ask and you shall receive...

Markel Crawford
6'4" 180lbs
3*
#6 Tennessee
Grade-89
Memphis, Tennessee

Strengths:
Crawford is a long, athletic and confident shooting guard that has good strength for his size and can knock down 3 points jumpers with his smooth stroke on the move off the catch mostly with great accuracy. He has good shot prep and is ready to pull the trigger on the catch most of the time. He sprints the floor, comes off screen or spaces on the side of dribble penetration in order to get off his shot in addition to having the size to shoot over smaller defenders with ease as well. Crawford will also not hesitate to post smaller guards. Crawford has the size and athletic ability to defend both wings positions. He also did a nice job of communicating with teammates on both ends of the floor.

Weaknesses:
Crawford will need to continue to build his game in the areas of making plays off the dribble. He will need to become a better north south driver and slasher in addition to be more of a factor on the glass given his physical gifts. Crawford will need to put more of a value on the ball when feeding the post and learn to recognize when to take over the game with his shooting in which he is very capable.

Bottom Line:
Crawford brings great size and shot making ability mostly off the catch with range beyond the arc. He will need to continue to build his perimeter skills to take his game to the next level.

These descriptions always make every kid sound like a world beater. Lol

You have to really read between the lines on a lot of them. I try and focus more on the weakness and bottom line description than the strengths.

For example with Crawford I'm gonna say he needs to really learn how to drive to the hoop to utilize his strength. He also needs to improve his decision making and really value the basketball more than he currently does. In addition, even though his perimeter shot is good at the hs level, he needs to continue to improve on it sovit translates to the college level.

Maybe im looking to deep into this but, does anyone else get the vibe he seems to still really talk about and push things with Tennessee? He mentions stoked a lot, now mentioning Nichols a UT lean, and is putting Crawford someone Ut is after in the same paragraph.

Just a thought.

Maybe jones ship hasn't sailed yet???

That's a pretty old tweet, but who knows.

recently scored 26 points against big time program Oak Hill Academy. Markel is considered to be a big time player, who is largely considered an after thought because of guys like king, nichols, jw3 and hubbs right in his area.

markel also just led his melrose team over nick kings memphis east team and will be playing in the 16-3AAA title game tuesday night.

this is a guy to watch next year, he could very easily shoot up the rankings and become a 4* heading into his senior season.

Markel had a good game leading his Melrose High School team to a 60-53 win over Central, and earning the District 16-AAA championship.

ended the game with 16 points, and will open region play saturday night.

According to an insider on Volquest, we lead for Crawford.

I'd like him and jajaun Johnson from Memphis. Along with Nichols and 1 of hubbs, king or thornwell. That'd be solid!

Maybe add 7 footer Sam Edwards as well.

We have a thread for JaJaun Johnson? I'll start one if we don't.

Sam Edwards probably needs one too, as BTNO pointed out. He was mentioned in a GVX article a few days ago.

Bump.

I would also say he needs to improve on his eating skills. With his offer list, and us supposedly the leader for him, I'm thinking this thread needs to be up top.
