'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Bump. Any new info on this guy

Sounds pretty open at this point in the process, although a lot of people think Ohio State is the leader on the field at this point. I also remember reading somewhere a while back that he grew up an Ohio State fan.
As a sidenote he goes to the same high school as 2011 5* (#2 player in the nation according to Rivals) LB Curtis Grant, who is at OSU now.

Picked up offers from Auburn, Ole Miss and Washington today, his recruitment is really picking up recently as far as offers are concerned

I message from a phone and i hated english class in high scool and college. I dont need a translator just need periods every now and then if I get my point across thats the point. I didnt know this was english 101 i just hate the coach, player, and most of all haters. So i will use proper english but the negavols and negative people need to go somewhere else ya fig a deal me:loco:

You don't need a degree in english to post here, but it would help if you didn't come across as illiterate.

"He and coach Dooley told me they were going to start recruiting me really hard," Green said. "He's down to earth and he keeps it 100% real with me and I see him as a father figure type coach. He is telling me things that I can trust. I know what he did at Tennessee (as a player) and he thinks I can accomplish those same things and do even better."
"I love their style of offense," Green said. "The campus is beautiful and the coaches really stand out. Coach Graham is a top notch guy and coach Dooley is a down to earth guy. Tennessee is just a great university."
-Rivals.

Green attended the UT-Vandy game last year. He likes to model his game around Arian Foster. He says he knows critics call him slow, but he ran a 4.37 at VT and a 4.31 at PSU.

On his recruitment
"I'm comfortable with it, but I'm still adjusting to it," Green said. "I get messages on Facebook from all the different coaches. I'm just trying to figure out who the fake coaches are and who the real coaches are. Some lie and I'm learning to figure out who those coaches are."

What he's looking for in a school
"Academics are big," Green said. "I want to have a great relationship with the coaching staff and early playing time doesn't hurt either. I just want the place that suits me the best and a place that can I can settle down."

Also said he plans on making a decision on his birthday in the middle of February 2013.

Wouldn't mind taking Dye(hope we offer) and Green(doubt we pull both). Or one of the two and a real slasher at RB. Not one of these little scatbacks. Hope we take 3 or 4 more WRs this year. We still aren't deep at WR with this past class.

UT has really been in need of an elite RB prospect the last couple of years. Green is currently a Rivals100 RB with offers from schools all across the country. He is a big RB who self reports a 4.3/4.4 forty time. If all these things hold true then I believe Green will be a take no matter the date for UT. UT, at this time, is in absolutely no position to tell a stud RB no thanks.

Oh me.

Hopefully he will get tired of the process and commit earlier than that instead of dragging it out that far. Hopefully with the vols

This waiting up until his birthday is crazy. I still like Kamara and Dye in this class but if Green wants to come you have to take him. A class of Kamara and Dye or Green would be good. I can see us taking a lot of RBs this year. We don't have anything past Lane and Bourque long term. Neal will be a senior when this class hits campus.

Done with Tom Smith already?

And we will get at least one before NSD next year because we will start winning this year. IMO, our class this coming year will be good, really good, and we just won't have room. We won't have many spaces for RBs because we will need them for OL, DL, and LB.

So what backs on the roster will keep us from taking 2 big time backs this year? I think we'll get Kamara and another big time back. We aren't as deep at the skill spots as some of you think on here.

No sir not at all. He'll have to show he can't just be recruited right over though this year.

If he doesn't produce a glimmer of hope this season, we'll recruit over him. It's sad, too. I had high hopes for him. He was a class act coming out of HS and produced really good numbers in a really tough conference in FL.

I don't think our current stable of backs helps or hurts us getting RBs for 2013. I think we get big time backs in the 2013 class. I just think we get them way before mid-February of next year, and we won't have room.

Additionally, there are quite a few instate guys who could get a look at RB. Corn Elder, Reeves-Maybin, Dodson, or Wilkins. Not saying that we get all of them or even want all of them, but if we did get them all, at least one of them is playing RB.
