Vic was krootin' the heck outta him last night on twitter. Plus, I saw this tweet which led me to believe its between us and the Canes:

@Safid_Deen: Had a nice talk with @_NigelBethel tonight. Big decision coming Monday for a great kid with a strong support system. #Vols #Canes

I will not be committing to anyone tomorrow, I'm still undecided, I wanna take my time, & wait till I take my official visits.

I guess he is not all canes.....at least not yet

I know this might have been said before in different context; but does anyone else agree that Vic Wharton is probably a better recruiting coordinator than 95% of them out there?

I feel almost positive this decision was delayed because of Vic's effort

After football Vic has already solidified his life career as UTs recruiting coordinator.

U think Vic had more to do with that than our coaching staff? Don't get me wrong players recruiting definitely helps but I starts and ends with the coaches. Jmo

While i am sure him and the coaching staff helped. I think most of this is stemming from his high school coach who anti UM at the moment. Which if he does take the visits is going to help us a great deal. Its also going to help FSU. He is going to camp there in a couple of weeks to earn a commitable offer.

Our coaches put in a lot of work on this too, everyone involved in recruiting played their part in this. However, Vic provides a unique thing that our coaches and GAs cannot, he's able to relate to the guys he's recruiting. He's in the same position as every recruit he talks about which makes his love for UT seem that much more impressive to recruits, and yeah other prospects recruit for other schools but I don't think any recruit has ever been as vocal about getting recruits to his school as Vic has been.

Do you know why his coach is anti UM? I just thought that was interesting. Figured I'd ask.

It is because of the way they handled Kirlkand last year. Golden pulled his offer when he asked to wait to announce.

He was on Shannon's staff for like a year. His son played at Miami and plays in the NFL, but him and Golden's relationship was never really great but it really soured after the Kirkland incident.

Vic's the man. I think/hope this bodes well for us.... perhaps he has begun to feel strong enough for UT (in no small part due to Vic) that we pulled even or close enough to Miami to he delayed his decision until after he visits campus.... Couldn't imagine that he could've committed to us without visiting, so maybe we seal the deal after an OV

FWIW.. My friend is a high school football sports writer in sofl and a rabid cans fan and recruiting junkie. He asked one of his guys who is close to UM's LB coach about the situation. His friend said the ICE told him to hold off on committing to Miami. He was going to commit but keep on seeing other schools. ICE told him thats not okay and that he should wait to commit when he is ready to completely shut it down.

Thanks for the info man. But what is ICE? Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question.
