Cause he's committing to the vols. Don't you know that

Espn,
Rivals,
Commitment ceremonies,
7 on 7 tournaments and probably even ( sorry to burst your bubbles boys) kate upton hates us

It's stuff like this that keeps conspiracy theories going. It doesn't makes sense that they push it back and let that other guy commit to FSU.

This made me LOL

@rwhitefield12: Pretty sure @dillonbates and @MrHurd18 have more combined stars than vandys whole recruiting class combined.

Haven't seen Patty on here but then again I haven't been on here much myself lately. I have her e-mail address, maybe I should drop here an e-mail.

Just wondering, I have seen more of the old gang tonight than i have saw in months....I'm still here, refuse to run ha ha

I hope Butch turns this thing, bates would be another brick and will prob pull several more with him

He can still play football even if he signs.

The story with J Winston when he committed to FSU was that the ACC allowed a player to sign a MLB contract, receive money, and play summer while still being eligible in the fall for football. But he would not have been able to do the same in the SEC.

@DanWolken: Just to be clear, Driskel is playing QB at Florida this year. But fact he can sign baseball contract example of NCAA hypocrisy on amateurism

As long as he keeps amateur status in football, he can sign and receive benefits from mlb team while playing college football.

How does this work? MLB draft can be pretty confusing. I know guys come back all the time from being drafted, but I can't recall from being signed (granted I don't follow MLB draft much at all).

How does him signed to play professional baseball (albeit, likely minor league) not make him forego his collegiate amateurism?

Driskel will still be playing football for Florida. He was drafted a couple weeks ago, and finally signed on to the contract deal today. He can opt to play baseball for the Red Sox organization at anytime, but he said himself that he won't be joining the Red Sox this year. Apparently, baseball is his back up plan if football doesn't workout. The Angels drafted Jake Locker back in 07, but he decided to play football instead. Hopefully, Driskel changes his mind and plays baseball instead. It would definitely be an advantage going into the swamp this year! With that being said, enough about Driskel, lets talk Bates being a Vol!
