Travel 300 miles round trip to see 2 teams play I don't care about or watch Tennessee(my future team) possibly pull the biggest upset of the 2013 college football season. Not a hard decision for me if my heart is Orange.

how did you go about the recruiting process when all SEC teams were recruiting you?

VQ mods haven't said Butch has a no visit rule in place but it's pretty clear that he has one. Butch getting Weatherd to not take this visit is incredibly impressive. And I think LV is right, if Weatherd does take the visit, his spot is no longer saved and other OLB's will be contacted.

I think it's safe to say that spots aren't saved for everyone. I also think it's safe to say sometimes kids say they have OV's and they don't, or they did and they were withdrawn.
For instance,
"hey Chris, we really want you to come down Saturday as we discussed, but we have to know where you are and be straight. Will you listen? Or are you committed and just coming to a big game? Just be straight so we don't waste each other's time."
His answer then depends on the direction. Imo, this is a little bit of both.

You are right.....I don't like it either, but some take recruiting commitments, like they got jilted or used, when a player decides to take an OV to a school that is closer.

I would go. If I can't trust a commitment, a player or prospect then I don't need them. CBJ and staff has got their work cut out for them this week. We got fans going overboard about a visit. Why? This kid just maybe a football player that wants to see a game that involves two good teams and wants to leave Tennessee to enter the draft knowing that he help put them in a position for future success.

I would encourage all recruits to take in the Alabama's and Ohio States of the world.

We have got just as much if not better than they do. The major question for these recruits is do you want to be something special or do you just want to be a number and a slab of meat.

He will not find a better situation than Tennessee, to grow and get noticed if he delivers. Already part of the family so let's not treat him like a redheaded stepchild.

I'll be honest, I haven't read every post in this thread but I think there's a big difference in saying "he can't be trusted" and "he's a liar".

I have plenty of friends that say they're coming to a party but then don't. After this happening enough times, they are still my friend and still get invited, but I generally hold the answer with a grain of salt. That's how I handle recruiting now when kid's do what this young man was about to do.

When a kid stands firm, I'm happy and it's refreshing that there is no drama. If Bruin or any other poster said "he's a liar", then I apologize. I just didn't see it.

I have always tried to like you but this crap is so old. You pick out certain things people say and make a mountain out of a mole hill. He doesn't want the kid to go but is saying he would go himself. Not the same thing. I would rather stay at home and watch UT and turn it over and watch the game on my own TV with my own food.

I personally said that an unofficial with tics did not scare me but an official does. If I can't write that opinion on here because it may upset the kid, then that is just as stupid.

My thoughts and I hope he is a VOL. I would think the coaches are horrible if they don't have others on the board for future decommits because they do happen. Have happened to Florida, Bama, Auburn, Texas and every other school. The are good recruiters and that is why even though it looks like our numbers are almost filled, they are still recruiting others for cases such as these.

I have a tendency to believe that a person cant be trusted when they do something untrustworthy....going to a game is not untrustworthy nor is it a lie....unless he said I am not taking anymore visits. If he called our coaching staff and asked them if it was ok and they said yea go have a good time then who cares. This kid has done nothing wrong in fact he has continued to tweet nothing but positives about his commitment to us.

If your friend attends another party does that bother you. It shouldn't if you trust them. When we call kids liars and question their integrity without any reason or Facts then we are the ones with the problem.

This kid is All Vol. He has not waivered in his commitment except in a few irrational fans eyes.
