'14 JUCO LB Chris Weatherd (UT Signee 2/5/14)

If I were AJ I'd go pro after this year. He might lose his job next year, just like B. Moore did this year.

I don't think so, I don't see Mouhon or Bryant being able to step in as True Freshman and overtake AJ...they may be better in Nickel situations and he could actually come off the field maybe in those passing downs.

Would love a LB core next year of the following.

OLB - Maggitt/JRM/Bynum
MLB - AJ/Mouhon and Bryant
OLB - Weatherd/Bates/King

Would be pretty good to go along with an elite secondary.

"I just love the atmosphere," Weatherd said. "People around Tennessee are just fun to be around and the players are fun to be around and to watch coach Jones do what he says he's going to do is awesome. I just like being in Tennessee, period. It's just new people and new surroundings instead of being in Texas all of my life."

"It was good to see them play," Weatherd said. "I wasn't really impressed with how they played, they could have played better and we all know that. It's beautiful up there and it's always cool to see the crowd and how they're in the game."

"I watch the linebackers and they have to be able to move east to west on the field because that's where the South Alabama quarterback was going," Weathred said. "So, I could see where I fit in perfectly right there. I could see where I would help outside."

"They call every now and then and they keep telling me they need me and then I take the time out of my week to go to Tennessee instead of driving three hours to A&M, I think that says something," Weatherd offered.

I definitely think we will have the depth next year for AJ to come off on passing downs - I wonder if he is playing less reps and can come off in situations that aren't a good fit for him if he will look better

who knows but it couldnt hurt to get him more rest and have him playing on the downs where he is more likely to be a factor

Weatherd comments on the UGA game...

It was a well-played game. The effort was there, the passion was there, there also was a lot of mental toughness. Don't worry, help is on the way.

Bynum is OLB? I thought he was MLB?

AJ isn't going anywhere, unless he wants to be a 4th (at best) to 7th round pick.

Being drafted that low is not a bad thing. There is a guy in the NFL that was drafted in the 6th round out of Michigan that is doing pretty well.

I want him to return though, he would provide great experience and leadership for the young guys.

Being drafted that low as a senior is not bad. But declaring for the draft Junior year to get drafted in the 4th-7th is not worth it.

For every Brady there are 1,500 other guys drafted in the 6th round who never crack an NFL roster or are out of the league in 2 years. Leaving early is about getting paid. First 2 rounds pay out.

The only reason to go pro after your junior year is if you have maximized your draft stock or if your body is wearing down.

If you can come back for another year and get a better rookie contract after your senior year, then you should come back.

If another year would help you develop and gain enough additional experience to increase your chances of extending your career rather than just making you come out a year older, then you should stay.

With the average NFL career being 6 years, a lot of guys don't get a second contract so maximizing the payout of your first contract is huge and increasing your chances of getting a second contract is huge.

Dude has been constantly talking about being here in Jan. Sucks if he didn't take of business first.

Makes zero sense for there to be news on EEs not taking care of business now. Grades aren't close to coming out. Interested to hear what's the issue

Edit: unless they are on 1/4s at his juco????

Take a deep freaking breath and calm down troll!

dschult made a normal response to the news. He basically said, "What a bummer that he didn't get his grades right". Which of course is the reason he wouldn't be an EE.

You on the other hand want to launch an investigation into the story and in the meantime will spend hours, days, weeks, arguing over the "What if's" until Fortenberry or Hubbs say, "he doesn't have the grades to be an EE" and you'll say, oh yeah that makes sense and find 10000000 other things to investigate and argue about.
