'14 KY DT Matt Elam

The Evals I read on Elam during Army AA week were pretty bad. Of course 247 was the site continually making excuses for him during that week, I guess to save face with their ranking of him. Plus the guy is built to be an NG in a 3-4. No clue what he's doing going to a school that run a 4-3. Strange all the way around IMO.

I thought he was playing injured during the AA game.

Yes, he was so terrible that Saban was slobbering all over him last week.

Big pickup for the Cats, and a solid class for Stoops.

Why would Saban wanting him be a surprise? He fits a specific need for Bama's defense. There are probably only 2-3 true NG's out there in every recruiting class. It's surprising he would somewhere where they run a 4-3 base.

I never saw that reported anywhere. I actually pay more attention though to the weekly practice reports at those AA events than I do the actual game. That's news to me if he was.

I will have to see if I can dig it up. But I thought one of our sites mentioned he was limited or not 100% from an injury. I will check and post if I find it. Heck I may be thinking of someone else.

He's big, and that's about the end of his upside, he's weak, he's slow, he's got terrible conditioning, and he's about as smart as a bag of hammers.

Is that why Florida didn't want him?

Did Florida recruit him? I don't have a clue. I've said from the get go that this kid was gonna be a bust. I don't care what school he committed to. I'm glad he didn't come here, we're better off without him

I wasn't impressed with his play last night against Auburn.

He came off the line very slow and once contact with the o lineman was made he didn't put forth much effort to drive his man back.

He looked so big and overweight that he couldn't move well.

I thought Elam was a good recruiting win for Kentucky when he signed with them, but after watching him it looks like he needs to cut 30 pounds and get a mean streak.

Even Jared Lorenzen thinks Elam's too heavy.

Remember when he was body slamming 5 foot 150 lb. o-linemen, apparently Bama offered, and then the recruiting sites ranked him a 5 star.
