'14 KY QB Drew Barker

I can't believe anyone would mention this guy as a possibility. I called it coming out of HS, he was going to be a massive bust and was highly overrated. Off-field issues, not very football savvy and just not all that talented. Should move down a level to be honest.

I'd guess some people believe he'd be a Riley Ferguson or Nathan Peterman type of player. Bad career start elsewhere, does better under different coaching in different scenery.

Personally, I don't mind taking these types of projects usually if they are one and dones, but there is enough sample size to know Barker is not one you take.

Not very good at remembering what you said in this thread lol...Weird how you wanted a "massive bust" at UT.

He actually reminds me a lot of the Dan Lefevour kid who Jones excelled with at QB when he up at Central Michigan. I think he'd be a great fit for the kind of offense Jones likes to run. But he would also be a better fit in Spurrier's offense than he would in that spread UK is going to run.

I’m not for taking a kid that can’t start at Kentucky at QB. Come on man, this shouldn’t even be a topic of discussion. He’s trash and we don’t need another Senior terrible QB on the roster.

You gotta give the guy some credit, he did graduate college, although it’s just Kentucky...

He can be a leader and make sure the underclassmen don't get into bb gun shootouts or fights at nearby colleges.

I think he's Patrick Towles 2.0. He has a great arm, but the accuracy is rough. He never had a chance to have a rhythm. He was ridiculous in the 1st half of the USM game, but soon suffered that back injury that was way more serious than people knew.

If given a chance he should be good at a smaller school.

Towles was half the player Barker is.

He’s not a great passer but at least he was somewhat efficient.

Barker hasn’t done anything close to what Towles did at UK.

I’m just saying, if UT were to swoop down to that level, then we have horrible QB issues more than I thought.

Towles was serviceable at times. I don't think Barker got a full chance. Not saying he's good, but wish it could have been different.

He's a smart kid that had some bad luck with the media. I'd rather he get caught playing around with BB guns than what Boom Williams was doing. Sometimes the star players will get a pass but behind the scenes they are a pain in the locker room. The EKU stuff wasn't necessarily his fault, but he caught the blowback.

Similar to JJ type things. Complaining about coaches. Some issues with other players. Some sort of personal problem where he nearly left the program. He was great on the field but there's a reason he wanted to leave a year early.
