'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

Could just be sad that he is leaving? Aren't they all leaving today?

I mean, what promise could have been broken? MDO himself said there was a chance he would greyshirt.

Just talked to Horky and Dews...

Just a couple of quick notes as guys start to make their way out of town.

As for Dews, he said his visit was excellent and he's now up to 6-4, 198 pounds. He's grown over an inch since he was last in Knoxville this summer. He said another visit is still possible but wasn't sure right now. He is very committed to Tennessee.

Kid could be a 6'5 monster in a few years

I'm glad I'm not "meeting him over the middle" as they say ... but at my age and condition I couldn't meet his grandfather over the middle. Total destruction for me. :)
I believe he'll be a star for the Vols.

Derrick Brooks freshman year- 205 lbs

Thomas Davis freshman year- 205 lbs

Jerod Mayo high school senior- 214 lbs

Curt Maggitt high school senior- 195 lbs

And that took 2 mins of research. I could go on

Nope. No one ever puts on weight after high school and maintains their athleticism. These guys should be full grown by the time they're 16-17.

Add that to the fact this kid should be a high school Junior not a senior. Plenty of room for growth. If he had another year in high school chances are he would be a very highly rated 4 star IMO.

Exactly. Showing a list if players' junior year measurables would be apples to apples.

Anyone saying this kid couldn't gain the muscle necessary to play LB doesn't know what they're talking about.

"It was excellent. It was 100 percent excellent," Dews said leaving Knoxville. "Leaving coach Jones house and the boat ride were the best parts. The boat tour down the (Tennessee) River was awesome."

"It was exciting. The coaches were telling me what I would play when I got down here and stuff like that," Dews said. "They said they were going to make me eat so much every day and coach Lawson is going to work us to death."

"They told me I would play the same thing Curt Maggitt would play. This year he's going to do a lot of blitzing and rushing off the edge," Dews explained. "So, what he plays this year I will be playing," Dews explained. "I just want to be in a position to sack the quarterback."

"It was good. They other two times I was here for we just always bond like a family," Dews offered. "We got to build a good relationship because I don't live in Tennessee like the other guys do and get to see each other often. But, I love my future teammates."

Also said he wasn't sure if he would take a visit next weekend as Arizona, Purdue and Indiana are trying to get him to visit.

Could be talking about a recruit.

Y u mad? No need to get butthurt, sir. I was just stating that it doesn't appear he's got the size to play LB in the SEC. No one is doubting his athletic ability. You really should give UT's #1 fan the benefit of the doubt...

So you think Jerome will not grow another inch or gain another pound at age 17? Yeah, right... Okay.
