You mean like Butch did after we went up 17-0 on Oklahoma in 2015?

THIS. Exactly what I thought of immediately, as well as the Arkansas game about three weeks later. Those were two wins that we lost because the head coach decided to play not to lose rather than pour on more steam. I don’t think Heupel has anything close to that mindset.

I figure anytime you beat the Vegas line by 7.5 points, you've exceeded expectations. Might just be me.

Omari admitted they got complacent in 3rd qtr being up 31 pts and they let up. Coaches gotta work on keeping intensity level high for 60 minutes
When you have a big lead and the 1's are giving 100%, put the subs in and let them go full speed. Nico, should have been put in the game around the middle of the 3rd qtr. and go full speed, with the 1's

They had two good drives coming out of the half, they made some adjustments, and then after they scored, we made some adjustments and got back to stopping them. They at no point dominated us or played on the same level. We just had moments where they outplayed us and capitalized. Those guys played hard. I thought the running back was looking like Derrick Henry back there at times. And McCown looked good for a while too. Big environment to play in for a 3rd string QB.
Plus we were rotating more guys from 2s and 3s on defense. The real concern is the fact we can’t set the tone with our O-line and consistently get a push in the run game or pass protect. Too many 3 and outs for this offense.

Don’t forget a few years back how bad our offense was. I think the SC game at home will prove a lot. If we jump up on them I would slow it down and use our run game to milk it out. Go vols. SC is struggling with a bad Miss state team atm.
SC fans say Miss St has a better QB than Vols do, they even think Miss St QB is the best QB they will see this year. They aren’t worried about Milton. They believe if they stop the run they win easily. I hope Joe has the game of his life this Saturday.

14 points, that is my concern. Just like with Austin Peay, we should have smoked those people. We won't get another gimme like that for a while
I don't entirely disagree. OTOH, UT poured back ups onto the field in the 2nd half. Beasley got a little banged up so they went 100% youth at LB in the 2nd half.

Really good learning experience for some of those young guys.

Agree but it doesn't all fall on the OL and often it falls on just one and not all 5. The good news is that few if any have suggested that UT's OLs are getting physically dominated or just beaten. They're mostly making mistakes that are ostensibly correctable either through player improvement or change in the line up/rotation.

It will help a ton if Mays can get back and stay healthy. Kuric to me has played well. Spraggins played much better this week. Mincey appeared to do a pretty good job subbing for Campbell. Campbell has been solid at LT so I hope Mincey can step in at RT to make that position better.

This team will improve over the season. Young players are going to assert themselves where there are weaknesses now. The trajectory of the season will be determined by how many issues get corrected and how long it takes to correct them. Five penalties isn't good... but is an improvement over the previous two weeks.
