I hope and pray that TKJr. is a Vol but I know that he and his family are handling the situation similar to VB. If we have a down year this year and things don't look bright, don't be surprised if he signs elsewhere. That's all I'm saying. Not looking for attention. This kid is a HUGE must get for us so we need to go 7-5 this year to show improvement.

I think if we get TKJ then we get Hurd they seem to be coming close friends. I know Hurd is an EE does anyone know if TKJ is.

The fact that they/we are still waiting on an in state kid who's dad played at UT says a lot about TN. None of these kids have any Tenn swag. Why aren't all of these players lining up to make Tennessee the next two peat NCAA champion? Alabama has every kid in the state begging to wear that skank number on their helmet. Where are the leaders who want to make Tenn dominate again? I reallllly do not understand. I'm sorry but nick saban is not any better than butch jones.

This is fact. I was flamed for stating the obvious in the Hurd thread. When the legends are not committing to UT that tells you about this program. Everyone says that we need to win, but Bama was getting instate kids when they were going 3-8. Kids were playing for the program regardless of the record.

The variables have changed since 2008 when Saban was hired at Bama. Look how much the social media has progressed since then. Look at how much publicity is given to these top prospects on the TV, radio, and the internet, and how much social pressure they now have due to these things. The entire recruiting process has exploded over the last 3-4 years. National signing day has become such a hit that people take off work for it, and ESPN U covers it through out the day which is something like 14 hours of straight coverage. NSD has just become a really big deal, and it's a huge added pressure to these players. Unless a prospects loves a university growing up and I mean loves, he's going to go where he feels he has the best chance to succeed. The problem with TN talent is most of it is in Nashville, Memphis, and Chattanooga, and these areas aren't exposed to the VOL traditions like the east TN area is. Most kids there even grow up liking other schools other then TN. You may complain about it, but that's the way it is. As for TKJ, he does live in Knox, but that doesn't mean he's coming to UT. If you don't believe me look at Harrison Smith and Brandon Warren. Social pressures and winning out weigh the benefit of playing 15 mins from your home town these days. It's not just TN that deals with this problem. TX has taken a beaten from LSU, GA, Bama, Auburn, and now Texas A&M. This is why TX has really dropped off as of late along with OK as they are now competing against the best SEC schools for their best instate players.

Actually the neutral guys weren't. Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State were taking what they wanted from Alabama. Especially UT, Fulmer and crew were getting almost every high profile kid from this state in the late 90s early 2000s.

This pretty much sums it up. There will be players that are loyal to the in-state school no matter what happens. However, I would be willing to say a majority of kids will go to the currently relevant school. It's amazing what wins can get you. FSU still pulls quite a few high profile kids from AL each year.

its real great to have currents players becoming friends with recruits. i think it helps the process.. esp when they play the same position
