"I feel like it was the right time," Barnett told VolQuest.com Wednesday morning before going public with his decision. "I told myself I was going to wait to get that 100-percent feeling I need to go to a school and I was just talking to some people, one of my coaches and my uncle, and I felt like it was the best decision for me."
"I love coach Jones," Barnett answered when asked why Tennessee. "Coach Jones, I feel like, is changing the program around and I trust him a lot and I think he's a loyal coach and I really want to play for coach Jones and no one else right now. "I can't explain it. I just have a good feeling he's going to turn the program around and he's doing that right now. I can't explain it to you, but I just know."
"I'll be away from home a little bit, but still at home and my mom can watch me play and my sisters so it will be good for me," Barnett said. "It's really nice. I think it's perfect for me and my family and I'm excited about it."
"It helped Tennessee because it made me feel at home and they embraced me well. I know going there I'm going up there with Rashaan and he'll be going through what I'm through with the football experience," Barnett explained. "In middle school we told each other we're going to play college ball together if we get the opportunity to play, so it's going to be pretty sweet."
