you don't have to agree with me. Just put yourself in that situation. If you are out with girls and other recruits talking about you and the stuff going on, would you want 100 random dudes asking you about recruiting every couple of minutes?
I wouldn't. It would get old fast.

not important whether i agree or disagree. It reminds me of the people who become famous and complain about being approached in restaurants. It's the price of hitting the big time. An admonishment of orange hammer won't change that. There will be another 1000 right behind him even if he heeded your advice. I remember Peyton saying once that was just part of it and said" that's a good problem to have right?"

kid hasn't played his sr yr in HS yet and twitter wasn't around when Peyton was a jr in HS

I'm just gonna sit back and let this all play out. I'm guessing he just said that to throw OH off, that's just my opinion. Perhaps he still plans on announcing in August and is trying to keep it in the bag untill his announcement. That's what I'm gonna ride with. And there is a possibility he just wanted to kick it and not be asked where he's going 100 times.

Edit: I really can't reconcile even jokingly saying Vandy was one of my favorites.

But seriously. The weekend isn't over, so he could have said that to deflect from the idea of him committing. He could have said that last night then commit today. Or he could still plan on an August announcement regardless what we think he's gonna do this weekend.

I hate to get all "Grudenish" on you all, but I'm calling SMOKESCREEN on this. Kid just wants his moment. Either way....we've got 6 kids committed this week alone, possibly more today. I'm honna ride that wave of energy and see where it goes.

Just from the way OH describes the encounter it sounds like he was being Ef'd with.

If I were a recruit at a party and most likely being asked the same question over and over by strangers I would prob take the opportunity to mess with one or two. Then check my twitter to see how quick the rumor spread.

Who knows though. We'll all find out sometime between today and Aug 2.

Really? We are concerned about the answer a recruit may or may not have have given to a stranger at a party about where he's going? A&M or Vandy? It seems to me that is a joking response to a redundant question. I for one will not read into it at all.

This. I truly believe everything OH brings, I DO believe the encounter went as he said. Just think...we had him pegged as a verbal this weekend. I think it was a ploy to keep suspense built and make it more of a spectacle when he does commit. Kid probably wants his moment like the rest of them and he deserves it.

AGAIN, THIS IS ALL OPINION/SPECULATION ON MY PART. Just how I see it playing out. Be completely blindsided if this kid chooses Candy ass Vandy over the Vols. A&M too.

You guys act like you would tell some random dude that walks up to you all your info. These kids aren't stupid. They know you just want to run an ruin their moment by posting they committed on a message board or twitter etc. when he wants you to know he will tell the whole world. Until then only his family, our commits and coaches know where we stand

Derek is a Vol. He has spoken at length with his BA coaches, one in particular, about his recruitment. He has discussed several dates. First, he wanted to announce before his season started and I don't have a schedule with me but that should be around 8/23. Then he talked about moving that up to on or before 7/28 (I think was the date) when BA left for their team camp. On the way up to Knoxville for this weekend he told his BA coach (who is there helping with camp) that he may go ahead and commit this weekend. So the announcement date has never been nailed down. The one thing that hasn't changed is that he is all Vol.

Being the absolute Vol Homer that I am, I'm gonna go with Tailgate here rather than Hammer (no offense Hammer) cause this sounds much better.

Maybe he didn't want anything leaked out. I wouldn't have even answered if a random person asked, especially if I was on the campus of my favorite and that University is on a commit spree.
