'14 TN Long Snapper Wesley Horky (UT commit 1/27/14)

"Coach Jones is going to turn the program around back to where it needs to be and that's on top because I don't know how anyone wouldn't want to play at Tennessee and for coach Jones. That's why it's about to be a really special time."

Horky says he has a shot at securing a scholarship should he win the starting job at some point.
"Yes sir, I know I will," he said. "They haven't promised me anything, but I could be put on it in January."

I'm always amused by posters who express outrage over multiple threads on the same topic. How hard is it to just keep scrolling instead of jumping on the thread to let the OP know what a schmuck you think he is?

Perhaps you undervalue the satisfaction one gets from telling the OP what a schmuck he is?

Try it. You'll like it.

i heard that this kid can snap the **** out of a football!!!!

comgrats kid. welcome to Tennessee. look forward to seeing you snap the **** out of the ball for for years!

Welcome to Big Orange Country Wesley! Real glad you are a Vol!

I'm really pleased that this coaching staff is going after the best players at each position. It's a team game and every player counts. Wesley is tops at his position and it is great to have him.

Another great day for VolNation recruiting! GBO!!

Didn't he OV this past weekend??

Thought that meant he couldn't walk on?

He will be a preferred walk-on. Preferred walk-ons can be recruited like any other prospect, including OVs. A normal walk-on cannot be recruited. I believe you are only allowed so many preferred walk-on spots per year.

Don't think that's correct.

Walk ons can't OV.

My guess is this kid either grey shirts or we find out the visit this past weekend was an UOV

I believe it is correct. Didn't Devaun Swafford take an official visit and was set to gray shirt, but took a preferred walk on spot instead? If so, that answers your question.

Swafford UOVed

All the berry with walk on talk this was talked about in great detail.

Also when stokes commited the OV eliminated kentucky and memphis because they didn't have a scholarship available that first spring and he would have had to walk on there for a semester

Taking an official visit makes one a recruited athlete, which nixes the possibility of being a regular walk-on in the future. However, there is no rule that says a preferred walk-on candidate can't take an OV.

If you Google "preferred walk-on" and "official visit," you'll find there are many prospects around the country in the same position as Horky.
