I was thinking they didn't have much passing game, but then I saw Smith's thread and I was like, "Oh yeah..." Guess that's one bad throw he won't make again at least.

Yeah I felt bad for him. If you get a chance, go watch Malachi Horton from Morristown West. In fact, they play one of the Sevier County teams on TV in 2 weeks. Don't wanna overhype dude, but hes a baller. 756 yds in 3 games and can catch the ball. West has a history of having good backs. Barring injury, he very well could hit 2K on the stat sheet.

Update on Smith from ESPN. Interesting stuff, wonder if this is a legit option for us.

The quarterback from Knoxville (Tenn.) Grace confirmed to ESPN that his high school team will move from an option attack to more of a spread passing attack this fall in part to take advantage of Smith's abilities. That should certainly help the 6-foot-4, 190-pound signal-caller display his skills and hopefully wow recruiters who wonder about his passing.

"I'm hearing from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, Duke, Appalachian State, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Dartmouth and South Carolina," Smith said. "I'll be visiting Appalachian State, Duke, Tennessee, Akron and Mississippi State for their junior days."

Smith has been a standout on the spring camp tour. He was awarded top quarterback and given a leadership award at an NUC camp in Cincinnati, Ohio. Smith is scheduled to be at the Elite 11 camp on Friday, a seven-on-seven passing camp on Saturday and the Nike Football Training Camp in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday.

Sounds like a big weekend coming up for him and his recruiting future, hope he shows out.

Sounds like a possible option. Grab him before he blows up and we may could steal one.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do in a spread offense after being in an option/misdirection based offense the last couple years

Yeah, his coach's son was the running back last year and got most of the offensive touches. I remember watching a game of Smith's on TV and completely forgot he had a thread on here. He didn't get much chance to shine.

That's a statement that I'm having a really hard time comprehending.

I will go slow. I have 2 schools I pull for the Vols and App St. If he doesn't go to school at Tennessee I would like to see the kid play for App St.

I'll admit i'm no where near an expert when it comes to evaluating QB's but i'm really surprised by watching his tape that he has no offers. He looks to have a good arm as well as accuracy and seems to move pretty well.

75% completion percentage and a 4-1 TD to INT ratio. As a walk on? Yeah, I'll allow it. Much as Charlie High was, it just adds some depth. Hopefully if Smith accepts the spot, he sticks around a little longer than Charlie did.

im not real sure. hows his competition? could be that he doesnt play against good competition, or hasnt been to camps.

Don't know about his competition. His tape claims a few camp MVPs. I'm not a scout but it looks like he has a touch and he's mobile. The lack of offers are what confuse me though.

I know his family... He has been to a ton of camps and done well. I know Mississippi St and Duke have all shown a lot of interest but were waiting for dominos hire on their board to fall before offering.
