Sorry for the random bump, but I was thinking about the fact that Mixon didn't qualify out of high school but also didn't go to a juco. Did he just take some community college classes/workout in his free time, or what? Does anyone know if he's stayed in pretty good shape? I'm assuming yes since we offered him, but I've just always thought about how much it would help to have a year to concentrate on working out and preparing. Basically a redshirt year without all the classes. Hopefully he got a lot bigger/faster.

I'm sure this has been discussed earlier in the thread, but I just didn't have the time to go look for it. Thanks for any info

hes basically a grayshirt.

i think his only problem was he had to get a higher grade on a test, which he did

Yeah it wasn't a normal situation...I remember reading about it in the Dallas Morning News but he was a Nebraska commit and nowhere on Tennessee's radar,so I gave it all due perusal...none...core course dispute...easily fixed but not worth a year of JC...so in essence a greyshirt that benefitted us...thank you Mesquite ISD :salute:

I wish we would tap into more of the TX area for recruits. There is a lot of talent in this state.

TCU has a topflight program with mostly "scraps" from the state...it's like in beauty pageants...you have a lot of stunning candidates so you select the one with the biggest rack. :boobies:

Is Mixon on the team or not. Rivals indicates we have only 31 recruits and do not list Mixon. Even our Tennessee official list does not list him, but there's a picture of EE and lo and behold Mixon is in the picture. Folk, somebody at Tennessee is not very professional in their reporting.

They technically can't list him for some reason. I forget why. He is on the team

He is a late qualifier which apparently slips through the cracks over at Rivals. There was an article about it. He is on the though and already enrolled.

My guess is since he's basically a grey shirt, they may count it differently somehow.

Gray-shirts are not listed on Rivals. We was evaluated and ranked in the 2013 class, and they don't re-rank them. In the same manner Dews won't be listed in our 2015 class on Rivals.
