I like getting commits but don't we have other needs beside 3 QBs....like a tackle.
Exactly. Having 4,5, or 7 guys transfer every year is a good sign if you're building a championship caliber team. It means lots of competition is going on and some of those who don't win a job will leave. Good. It's better for everyone involved.
Ryan Bartows "thoughts" on Jones.
One of the nation's elite QBs.
I've scouted Jones in Moreno Valley, California three times in the last year and also watched him at The Opening.
He's all of 6-3, 195 with a frame to carry 220+ pounds down the road.
His No. 1 strength is his work ethic. He's a gym rat that's all about improving his game and doing what's best for his team's success. A leader. A very fired up competitor.
He's tireless in his approach to the game, both on and off the field.
On the field, Jones is one of the nation's elite dual-threat QBs.
In this cycle, IMHO, seven of the nation's top 10 QBs hail from California aka QB Heaven. Jones is one of the best ones of that bunch.
He's a thrower first and foremost. With a live arm to deliver the downtown bomb as well as the power to hit the outs and slants. He has a solid grasp of pre-snap reads.
Jones can work under center but ideally he's best in the shotgun in a spread scheme, similar to what Butch Jones runs at Tennessee.
Jones, who clocks a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash, is a dual-threat and can make plays with his feet when the play breaks down or on designed zone-reads or QB draws.
He runs to throw, first and foremost. A true QB all day.
The guy he reminds me the most of is Deshaun Watson, Clemson's star freshman QB who I scouted since being at his first high school game at Gainesville (GA). Similar frame, mobility, smooth release and demeanor.
If Watson is a 5, Jones is a high 4. He's that kind of good.
Sheriron Jones was the No. 1 QB on Tennessee's board in the spring.
In the summer the Volunteers wound up finishing second to Florida in his original recruitment.
Due to circumstances, Jones opened his recruitment last month and Tennessee got their guy, their top guy. Who also happens to be one of America's best.
Butch has him wait until the two EE's QB's are taking classes? Hahaha Butch is the man. I'm so pumped about this commitment, this kid is the real deal, IMO.
And to those worrying about one of the QB's transferring later...so what? That's how all this works when you recruit to win championships. You bring in 25 or more of the best players you possibly can each season and some will rise to the top and others will go away. It's how all this works. If some didn't transfer you couldn't sign 25+ each season and you'd be stuck with guys who don't fit the culture, aren't up to the task, etc...Stop worrying all the damn time and enjoy this, it's beautiful.

Do Y'all think that there is a possibility one of the quarterbacks coming in could get a look at receiver? I haven't really seen any of them play and I don't know if any of them have the skill set for it. I do know in the past Tennessee has been successful at this with guys like Cedrick Wilson. Also, Tennessee doesn't have many receivers this class I believe.
