'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

I have no clue what your drunk post is supposed to mean, but it is obvious that a mobile QB is very important here in this system.

Dobbs missed throws all the time this year. (Besides the SC game) He hasn't connected on a deep fade yet either. If you can find one beside crooms crazy catch against Kentucky 2013 that should've been picked, let me know.

I think QD has a better shot than JJ at QB. At least for this year

There's a part of me, deep way down, that would like to see Jennings be the guy if Dobbs goes down and go to a really run heavy 2 TE zone read type of system utilizing the Jennings' natural athletic ability (IMO he's easily our most athletic QB). Get Pig and VP involved in it too. Kinda like Auburn looked in 2013 with Marshall rushing for so many yards.

Of course, our OL would have to improve significantly for that to even come into consideration though.

I don't care about how many fades or verticals we have.. I care about points scored and wins.

We haven't hit on a deep fade since Bray was under center. Unless you count Ellis' TD and Lane's HB pass.

I know that there are legitimate excuses for it (lack of WR and QB experience in 2013/terrible pas blocking OL in 2014/none of our QBs having exceptionally strong arms), but that's probably my biggest gripe with the offense we've seen under Butch so far. Between North, Croom, VP, and Malone, it seems like we should've at least lucked into a long TD throw (or 2 or 3). It seems like Pig gets thrown to more on those deep fades than anybody though.

I'm really hoping the OL takes a big step forward in 2015 so we can finally be set up to connect on a few of those.

Worley and North Connected a few times last year. Didn't you watch the SC game?

I guess I should have clarified that I meant a long TD pass on a fade.

But yeah North did have those two big catches against USC in 2013 I guess. It just seems like we should've had more than those two over the last 2 seasons. Worley had all day to throw behind that 2013 OL.

2017:
R-Fr Kendall

R-Soph/Junior Dormady (Backup if Dobbs get hurt in '15-'16)
R-Soph Jones
R-Soph Jennings or maybe he switches to Safety

If we hit fades enough to keep safeties out of the box we'll score more points. :eek:k:

First of all, fades do not win ball games. Secondly, you have to have a line that will give a qb enough time for the deep ball. Next year I guarantee you see more succes with the deeper throws

This. Everybody is so caught up on "we can't hit the deep ball." I like downfield passing every now and then but in the end, I prefer wins over anything. I could care less how many deep passes our QB's complete as long as we win a lot of games.

Only problem is when the D doesn't respect your deep arm they push everything in front of them...I remember a game against Georgia when they cheated up on Rick Clausen. We were as talented, but didn't look it.

The same formula won the NC this year as it has most years: success running the ball and good defense. Not the fade or deep ball. Running with success consistently opens the field for deep passes.

I agree. But I think the deep ball will come. It's just to me it's not the most important skill for a qb to have.

Look, I agree that deep balls aren't the end all be all of an offense. But making sure the defense has to respect it is important.

And fwiw, Ohio State beat Bama largely because of a couple key deep balls that Cardale Jones delivered on. If you take away the deep balls he was able to connect on, they never make it to the championship.

Dobbs is the clear favorite in 2015 to start. As of now Peterman is said to still he in the mix. 2 TFR coming in as EEs IMO will have a clear advantage to Jones. IMO Dormady will be the guy IF Butch needed to play a FR. Kendall comes in next year. Do I see 3-5 new QBs coming in and quietly waiting their chance for 2-3 years so the fans can be all giddy about depth? Lets just say I'll believe it when I see it. With all the transfers of late, at some point fans will realize some things just do not work.

its fine with me as long as the best one stays and becomes all-sec

Clear favorite?

Dude, there is no way he doesn't start

I never said they did. But if we can run our options against 7 men in the box they'll work alot better. We'll score more points.

Not all 3 of the QBs will redshirt this year. If Peterman leaves then one will come in and play cleanup for the non-conference games. Jones is the most game ready right now.

I'd like to see our Offense with a QB that can make all the throws consistently. That's the one area Dobb's struggled in. I think he will figure it out though. But I think Dormandy will be the back up b/c of is accuracy. (white QB's are more accuracy :p)
White QBs are more accurate? Could you be any more racist?
