"since all this USC stuff has been moving around. Hearing that longtime Trojans QB commitment David Sills has shown some interest and has been in contact with the Vols. Eastern Christian Academy head coach Dwayne Thomas mentioned to Adam Friedman that the Vols have inquired about Sills and I'm hearing the interest is mutual.
If you remember, it was Lane Kiffin that offered Sills as a 7th grader and Kiffin was one of the biggest reasons Sills liked the Trojans. He is a Steve Clarkson QB student and travels out to the west coast often for training. However, Kiffin offered quite a few quarterbacks in the 2015 class which left some wondering if he was going to take two in the class or if they soured on Sills a bit. 2015 is one of the best years on the west coast for quarterbacks in recent memory and the new coach might want a more local guy, that can't be predicted. If Ed Orgeron somehow keeps the job, which is very unlikely, then Sills would likely remain loyal and that loyalty would be reciprocated. However, there is so much in the air at USC right now and it will be a long time before anything is known about who the new head coach will be that I can see Sills looking around.
With current teammate Neiko Creamer committed to the Vols and with a good connection between coach Thomas and Vols assistant Tommy Thigpen, this could get interesting down the line.
Sills said he was "still committed" to USC when I messaged with him today, but these rumors are out there from multiple sources out west and on the east coast. I doubt anyone will confirm on the record so this could just be something we'll have to keep an eye on."
