Ford will be THE player who most benefits from the double teams drawn by K-Mac and King Tut. Cocked and coming off the edge with the constant chip he seems to have on his shoulder.... Good luck.

I think Ford is going to get a lot of work as a freshman because he not only has the speed and athleticism, but I think his hand technique is more advanced than anyone on our current roster. Barnett is pretty savvy and instinctive, but Ford's ability to use his hands effectively (to shed blockers) is what I personally think sets him apart.

This kid is 30lbs heavier at this stage than maggitt was. However that's who he reminds me of. He will have no problem filling out that frame.

er being a top performer on several days of practice this week he finished it off with a nice game as he gathered 4 tackles with a sack.

"It was a great opportunity. I love coming out here and it was fun. I had a good time. I showed my skills well enough and I had a good time doing it," Ford said. "It's like a sneak peek for college. Going against the best of the best makes me push myself. Back home it was easy because I was the best over there. But, here, it was a challenge and I like that and that's what I'm going to have at Tennessee."

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell was one of the several to take notice this week and came away liking what he saw out of the 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive lineman.

"He's looked good. Crashed down the line well," Farrell said. "He had a couple of opportunities in backfield and once he gets a little bit bigger he has a chance to be a good defensive end. He had a good game."

What???? Barnett has violent hands. Maggitt does too, don't compare any of these HS kids to the best bookends in the country. Ford is a good prospect but you need to hold up on that madness. Those dudes are All-American level talents.

Saw a replay of the Under-Armour game...Ford looked awesome out there...he stood out.

I agree with you. He will probably RS more likely. He will have to over take Vereen if he even want some 2nd team snaps. It won't be easy to get PT on the Dline next season.

Ford doesn't have the length of many other defensive ends but he makes up for it with excellent technique, anticipation and hustle. He's very good at flattening out around the edge or down the line of scrimmage to make plays from behind and he has a good first step. The Tennessee commitment showed he belongs in more elite company at his position.

Just because they are, it doesn't mean they are the best at every aspect of the job. Some DE's will have a quicker first step. Others will have better hand technique. Others, more overall speed and/or size.

So, saying that Ford may have better hand technique does not = Barnett sucking in that regard. No DE really has it all...unless your name is Clowney. And even then, NFL scouts will find a part of his game that is not as stellar as the rest.

Not surprising. I know we can't hold onto all of our current commits, some will part ways. Hopefully he goes to FSU or Miami if he leaves
