'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson PART II

Honestly, how many schools have been in his top 5 or even top 2? I understand he's young and soaking in the experience, but he seems to flip his "favorite" school like a pancake; one day it's auburn, then UT, then ohio state. I feel better about the QBs the staff already have committed vs another (potentially) cancerous personality in the locker room.

I think some of that has been more a case of TG may have liked the school but the school did not push for him and or passed on him altogether because of the red flags. If 5 out of your top 7 schools won't take your commitment, it's going to shake things up a bit. Then when you name a leader and then they pass on you as well, it's going to look like the kid is flip flopping a lot when in reality he's just having trouble finding a school he likes that will also actually take him.

I'm not sure I follow....all of the schools that have been on his top lists have extended offers. You're saying he's ready to commit but schools aren't honoring their scholly offers to him???

Look at how many kids these schools send offers to. There is not way we could be serious about all of them.

When a program gets their QB(s) for that cycle, they will keep in contact, but slow is down with other QBs. This way they can focus more on other position needs. All while having just enough contact to try and get a late commit if and committed QB(s) just ship.

That being said...TG will not play at UT. Regardless of who were to decommit.

Here's the twist: I'm not sure he'll be a quarterback in the end. As interest in TG as a QB dies down, his recruitment may take a totally different turn.

What happens if he opens the door to playing WR? How many of these school would be back in the mix? Given his size/speed/measurables, I'm guessing a LOT.

All speculation and IMO, of course.

He won't play WR at UT either. We have too many good WRs. And still are in a great position to add Van to that group.

Here is the issue I see with TG. Schools still aren't sure if he is a take at QB or WR...mixed with him committing later on. Schools will leave a spot for top targets they feel confident in, that are waiting up closer to NSD. But if they aren't sure if he is a QB or WR...is that worth waiting for? Will they wait for TG is a true QB wants on board, or is a true WR wants on board?

Then comes him bumping off someone all ready committed. Do you bump a QB off if TG wants on? Do you bump a WR if TG wants on? It will be hard to him to bump off a true position player since no one seems to be certain where TG will play at the college level.

That's ALL speculation by Leb. He has no idea.

I had no idea 5-6 months ago either when I said TG would not be playing QB for Tennessee. I said I would not take him no matter how many stars were next to his name. It does look like a lot of schools including UT has backed way off of TG. I get that a lot of fans who are all star struck hate seeing it play out that way, but it is what it is. CBJ is obviously doing what is best for our Vols. Passing on Gibson was a very wise decision IMO.

Probably so. Just depends if OSU will actually take him closer to his OCT announcement date.

The fewer schools that are willing to take him as a QB, the easier it'll be for somebody to tell him "We'll accept your commitment as an athlete but not as a pure QB". That's his future, I believe. And I don't think we've seen the last twist and turn to this story.

Keep in mind, he's still got an unbelievable ceiling as an athlete. His combination of size, speed, and elusiveness is amazing. If his head is on straight and he's motivated, the dude could be a rock star WR some day.

He doesn't want to be a rock star WR, he wants to be a QB. There are plenty of players that follow their dream, and play the position that they want to play, just at a smaller school. Chis Johnson went to ECU because those were one of the few schools that would allow him to play RB, everyone else wanted him as a DB. Although, he was not a 5* coming out of HS either, so TG's situation may be different.

then there are the Randall Cobbs of the world who should just shut up and listen
