He doesn't. I think it's partly due to the class as it has filled up and partly because of the other "issues". I would honestly not be shocked at all to hear the staff has not really been pushing for his commitment for quite a while. There is just too much smoke to believe its all BS.

Butch knows how to "recruit" WITHOUT getting a commitment.

Whos to say Mckenzie isn't bringing Ordway and McGraw with him from the opening?

Arent they all on the same team?

I could live with that. McKenzie is a lock. Ordway sounds like he is leaning toward UT. I figured Martin would be the other CB, but with him not pulling the trigger on his camp visit, McGraw could very well take that spot if he wants it.

Bruce showed up to camp and showed out. He was offered and committed. I don't think it really mattered if he was "better" than TG. The coaches took him. I also have not read about any "issues" with Bruce.

Darr and Brodus are SRs. Waites is a walk-on. A P in 2015 makes sense IF Medley is not going to do both P&K.

You don't want someone doing k&p at the same time. Leg gets worn out. We need a punter, but a LS is a waste of scholly. There are hundreds of great longsnappers. The difference between #1 vs. #100 is probably not significant.

Smoke that the experts say is bs. That smoke? lol. The articles and statements from the experts say we have a good chance to land him and he says we lead. None have said we won't take his commitment if he gives it.

I disagree on the LS part. I'll spend a scholarship to get a top caliber kid. If you can't get a top LS, then I'd just go with a walk-on. With CBJ looking like he did just that with Riley, I think Butch made a good decision.

If your 10th, 11th, and 12th WRs are worth a scholarship, IMO your 1 LS is. JMO

The top caliber kid at LS better hit like a mack truck or is able to play real center. Long snapping ability is easy to learn.

It may be. I'm not sure why it's an issue though if the staff offered the kid and he committed. They did take his commitment. Not sure why fans then say it should be taken away. Obviously the coaches see it as a scholarship well spent.

As I pointed out in another thread, UT is not the only 1 doing it. OU grabbed Horky last year as UT tried to get him to walk-on. Purdue, LSU, and Ohio State have all taken LS's this year on scholarship.

He better never miss a snap then. JR Carr is probably the best one we've ever had.

Yea I will roll with what the recruit and the experts say. You and the 4 stooges keep rolling with what yall make up in your heads.

Just listened to a little bit of Barton Simmons today chatting about Vols recruiting with GoVolsXtra. Of course they asked about TG. Simmons thinks it is very likely UT is not recruiting TG near as hard as they were just 2 months ago. He said there were some things causing schools to step back a little bit. He expects TG to name at least a couple more "leaders" before he announces his decision. In the end, he said watch out for TG sticking close to home and being a Cane.

TIFWIW.

"It is very likely" means he doesn't know for sure but he thinks it may be true. "He expects" means he thinks it could happen in his opinion but who knows it may not.

Nothing in that agrees with the we would not take him and for sure have backed off crowd.

I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't recruiting him as hard as when we had no qbs committed. That doesn't mean he missed his spot and we stopped recruiting him though.

Oh he fits.

You and Leb just don't want him on DreamTeam15.

I would certainly hope hes a better athlete than that second receiver we picked up.

and another punter. really? Do we not have 3 on roster already.

Gibson is a better ATH than anyone we have except Williams. Bruce or Woods could end up losing a spot for Gibson.

Some people just don't get it. It is way early and there will be decommits, guys lose their spots because of grades and flips. Even if this class were to fill up by August, there will still be room for great players. It happens every single year.

Why don't we want him anymore? I don't want to read threw 500 pages of complants.
Idk why we wouldn't want him. He can play almost anywhere right?

Depends on who you are listening to in this thread. According to the resident stooges, Gibson is not that good, we are not really recruiting him and he isn't a take. The team is so good that we don't need a top 20 player to help us win. Of course this is all just conjecture and hate.

Now as far as a lot of other good fans on here are concerned, we just want Gibson on the team. We think he is a great player, is getting recruited and is a take until CBJ (not media personalities) backs off of him or passes on him.

You're a funny dude. We don't need the baggage, there are players out there who are just as talented, but don't have problems. CBJ won't tell you when we back off, but Hubbs will.

Thanks Doc...the lines get blurred on this board when one side of a discussion takes ownership of fan status and starts issuing absolute statements..."Agree with us or you're a TROLL"...that attitude is what's made me so active on this thread...Leb and Tux have kept their cool and maintained their stance...nod to them...you considering that trip to Norman Doc?

Trying to get tickets thru a big OU booster :)
(I think they have a box) :)
