UGA is definitely out in front, and I think they will be the team to beat for a while. I'm really glad he enjoyed his visit enough to make us #2. That is definitely a big deal. Mos definally.

Trenton will be a Top50 player for sure. I use to live in Albany and it is mainly a GA, Auburn, FSU town. Getting him to land in Knoxville when it is all said and done will be a event of epic proportions for our staff. I am amazed at them just getting him to visit. So, these are the type of recruits we need to be fighting for and lets see what happens.

After his visit to FSU this weekend:

Thompson’s favorites have changed here and there over the past month, but it is clear at this early stage that three schools have definitely made an impression.

“They are high too,” Thompson said. “I would say Georgia, Florida State, and then Tennessee.”

Thompson plans to return to Florida State in July for the second session of the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp. He also plans to attend a couple of games at Florida State during the 2013 season.

He plans to visit South Carolina next week. He will visit Georgia for Dawg Night.

247Sports.com ranks Thompson as the No. 7 player overall in the 2015 class.

I feel like his top 5 schools are going to fluctuate with visits, and UGA will remain at #1 untill he ultimately commits. JMO, of course.

"Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee are standing out to me, he said. "They just the atmosphere there I like.

TENNESSEE: "That was a good visit. I spent time with some of the recruits there and I played against a recruit that goes there now from Jonesboro [Cameron Sutton]. He was just telling me he likes it and they are trying to work it."

He is visiting Auburn and UF next.

Interview after Trenton visited Auburn.. Article

Trenton talks about Garner being a good coach and then he gives his latest on his recruitment:

Georgia is still in the lead for Thompson. He also mentioned Florida, Florida State and Tennessee as other schools with Auburn standing out.

“Georgia has a big lead, because they were my first offer and they show me a lot of love,” Thompson said.

Master's degree? If he is any good then he will leave to the NFL and forget the Master's.

Actually, he could do both. Play during regular season, and take classes during off-season. Sure, it would take more time, but he can prepare for life after football. Too many examples of ex NFL players who go broke after pro career ends. Get it right, Trenton.

5 star on Rivals

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - 2015 First Five-Stars: Trenton Thompson

Why He's a Five-Star: "Defensive tackle is one of the most important positions in football, so a marquee guy who is athletic and can not only penetrate and get push but also run plays down to the outside is rare. Thompson is very strong at the point of attack and adept at splitting blocks and shooting the gap. He's a high-energy defensive tackle with athletic ability, and that's rare as well. Many of these top guys take plays off or slide by at times on talent, but Thompson works hard every play and brings it. I love his attitude and nastiness on the field. He's big but also athletic enough to play end in a 3-4 if he wanted to; that's also rare." -- Mike Farrell, national recruiting analyst, Rivals.com - See more at: Rivals.com Football Recruiting - 2015 First Five-Stars: Trenton Thompson

I would love to get excited for this one, but I just can't bring myself to. Hopefully we can get him on campus a few times.

SKILL ASSESSMENT: Thompson is an ideal three-technique prospect. He has great power but also has great quickness for someone his size and oftentimes finds himself in the opposing team's backfield.

STATUS WITH VOLS: The Vols are in Thompson's early top group but this is a classic SEC race for a top defensive lineman. The hope for Tennessee is to get Thompson on campus this fall for a visit to deepen the relationship already built there.

OTHERS INVOLVED: Georgia, Florida State, Florida, Auburn

"I like it a lot up there, the coaching staff and the team," Thompson said. "I hung out with one of the players when I was up there, Cameron Sutton. He said it's a real good place up there."

"I liked the d-line coach and how he taught me new moves and how to twist my hips and how to get off blocks," Thompson said. "He showed me some film about one of his players that plays for Denver and I liked that."

"The defensive coordinator showed me around a lot and was really happy I was up there and I liked that. I met coach Jones and I went into his office and talked to him for a while and he said they're trying to build Tennessee back and I could be a big part of that. He told me I'd be a three-technique and I'd help bring them back."

"I really don't have a top, but Georgia is sticking out to me right now," Thompson said. "They were the first school to offer me and they were the first school to see me. I also like Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn. I like them all, Georgia's just sticking out a little more."

Didn't see this posted yet. Its an interview he did with Bleacher Report in June. Thought this part was very interesting...

B/R: Georgia plays a 3-4. Do you think you can play the 3-4?

TT: I really don't like the 3-4. To me, the 3-4 just really worries about the linebackers making the plays. They want two ends to take on two blockers, and the nose guard to stay right there, and the linebackers can make the plays.

B/R: Would you rather play in a 4-3 system?

TT: I love playing in the 4-3. We play that at my school. I love playing that.
