Just because he gave a verbal commit to a different team doesn't mean you stop recruiting them.
Oh I agree I was just making a statement about the talent that Fields is. Also lets just say hypothetically speaking if he does want to flip who would be the first one gone?
Wonder if he starts taking a harder look at UT after last nights game. Apparently he has been listening to UT still and you have to begin to doubt Spurrier with his age, lack of results this year, and the way he stormed away from his presser.
"The plan is to definitely be back here and so forth," he told The State on Tuesday. "Just say that's the plan."
"You probably have some questions that I'm going to have a tough time answering," he said.
"If it's got anything to do with coaches coming back next year, me coming back next year, I am just going to refrain from all of that. Let's get through this season here and see where we are all at is probably the smartest thing for all of us to do right now."
"It hasn't been as much fun as the last four years that's for sure," Spurrier said.
Sore loser.
I have much respect for him as a coach and offensive play-caller. But, he has shown to be a sore loser. It is so easy to stand up and answer questions after winning or an 11 win season, yet he can't do it when he loses. Just can't happen. JMO.
IDK that I could fault him after that loss. Just a soul crushing loss, I can understand him wanting to distance himself from the media at that point. That said I enjoyed that it was UT that did the crushing. :dance2:
He's a huge SC legacy so I don't see him flipping, even though I fully expect Spurrier to retire either at the end of this season or next. He just looks worn down and tired. He'll be enjoying retirement before Fields hits his junior year at SC.
Well well. Can we say the OBC is hinting at the possibility of either him retiring or replacing one of his staff members
I don't think they will fire anyone but Spurrier will almost have to go through a staff change on the defensive side of the ball. That maybe more stress than he wants to deal with at this point. He seems just mentally drained right now and having to shake up your staff isn't going to help that.I don't see Spurrier going out like this. He has a nice or had a nice class coming in. I haven't bothered to see if they have lost several commits but it was a really good class earlier in year.
I don't think you can fire coaches either for one bad year when they were really good for you the previous 4
