Cloninger said Roseboro will again be a major force for the Wolves on defense, and will likely see time in the offensive backfield as well.
Hes going to be the main strength on the defense for us, he said. We expect him to be one of our leaders. And he will be the team will listen to him and follow him and look up to him. His best thing on offense is to be a kind of blocker. Hell be able to run the ball a little bit and catch the ball a time or two but hes going to seal the corners and do things like that for us.
Cloninger said Roseboro has been doing exactly what he needs to do in the weight room.
Hes doing everything were asking him to do, he said. Hes working hard in the weight room. In his position, he has to keep his head on his shoulders. When youre 16 and youre getting all this attention, if youre not careful things can go to your head. But hes handling it real well. Weve told him that right now he has no pressure. Everybody is his best friend. There are people who can come in here and promise him the world.
Roseboro has already had scholarship offers from numerous schools, including every Atlantic Coast Conference school in North Carolina, University of Virginia, Clemson, East Carolina and Michigan. Hes planning a trip to Notre Dame this summer and Cloninger predicts many more will be coming in.
Darian is getting a lot of attention right now, but its the assistant coaches coming through, he said. As he gets closer to graduation the big guys will start coming through. Hes got plenty of time to make a decision. Our comment to him is to keep his mind open. He still has a long process to go through.
