Except Stanford are not "Cardinals", they are the Cardinal.
Gotta be a good sign..

And their mascot is a tree. Some of us remember when they were the Stanford Indians; and their mascot was an Indian Chief. Stanford was one of the first to bow to political correctness.

JMO, but I think people really overrate where you get your degree from in a lot of instances. Not saying it doesn't matter or that people don't take notice when you have a prestigious degree.

Just saying that if you're talking about a kid choosing between, say, Tennessee and Stanford, it's not like you'll have some dead-end job if you go to UT, but wouldve been a CEO if you would've chosen Stanford. If you are smart, stay out of too much trouble, and network well then you'll have plenty of opportunities to have a good job and career either way.

It really depends on what type of program you're trying to enter. A lot of times state schools have engineering programs that are just as good or better than prestigious private institutions. But if you' aspire to go to a top Law school or something like that, schools like Stanford certainly offer a clearer path.

That being said, I did my undergrad at UT with people who are currently enrolled in Law School at Harvard and Yale, so in a lot of cases it's more about what you do and how well you do it in college moreso than where your degree is from.

Lol, I'll assume I know the reason. But even more than Cal-Berkley?

Now I'm curious about your assumptions, lol.

I've just had a lot of personal interactions with Stanford students and alumni that has rubbed me the wrong way. If they were in the SEC, my hate would reach epic levels.

Have some good friends that went to Cal-Berkley, so I don't have a prob with them. Also don't love them though.

Ah my bad, I was wrong.

In the midst of the talk about them changing their mascot due PC pressure, I thought your comment had something to do with their PC culture, and leftist bias. Hence, the Cal reference.

ehh, I'm from Illinois. I'm used to liberals around me.

Nah it's just because they're a bunch of tree hugging, hippie bastards. :eek:lol:

They are still the Stanford Indians whether they like it or not.

Haha I was coming in here to post this. If he doesn't know by now that Stanford is "Cardinal" not "the Cardinals" then he can't be that interested.
