'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

“really, tennessee is just a great place to be,” jennings said. “the coaches there, they really talk to you more from just a player-coach standpoint. Really, they just stress the importance of an academic scholarship and how that carries farther on than you playing football."

“whenever a coach can really just stress every aspect of a point on how your academics are going to last forever — way (longer) than your football ability is going to last — then that’s where you need to be, because you don’t need to go somewhere where coaches really want you for your ability to play football and then get you out of their school."

“tennessee really believes that, in order to have a great team, you’ve got to have a great relationship between coach and player, and they have that there.”

“i knew where i was going to go,” he said. “it felt like home for me. To go to a home-state university and a university that can do very well, it’s putting the keys around me. I just have to go in there and perform.

“they think i can play quarterback,” he said. “i know i can play quarterback. It’s just a matter of importance of me getting there and earning a spot. Nothing’s going to be given to you there, just like if i was to go to any other school. I’m going to go there and do what i can do. They think i have the attributes to do the offense that coach butch jones has put there at tennessee, and i think i can, too.”

“i’m not worried about any other competition that comes in because it’s just competition, and i’ve been playing competition my whole life. You can’t go anywhere without having competition,” jennings said.

“if they do offer another quarterback, well, i’ve just got to continue to work harder.”

Competition makes him better. That's why I think this kid will be great.

This is the attitude that I like seeing from recruits/players.

I've said it before, I love this kid's attitude...wants to prove himself and isn't the least bit scared of competition. He has all the potential in the world too. Exactly the kind of kid you want on your team. I'm thrilled he decided to be a Vol.

Although there were a few skids along the way, it didn't take long for him to learn to ride a bike. In fact, it took just three tries.

"There were no training wheels and I was falling down, scratching my elbows, falling in a ditch and everything," Jennings said laughing. "My mom put me on that bike and there were three things that were going to happen. You can continue riding down the hill safely or you're going to hit the ditch on your right or you're going to hit the pavement underneath you. I'm pretty sure I did all three things."

"He's the ultimate competitor. He has a lot of God-given athletic ability but he is obsessed with being a great player," Blackman High School head coach Phillip Shadowens said. "And any great player, I think, has some kind of trait that drives him. I see those attributes with Jauan. It doesn't matter if he's playing a game of horse or football or basketball or a tug of war drill we do, he's obsessed with winning and being great and being the best. I think that will continue to help him get better and better."

Jennings father, Bennie, knows talent. He played college football at the University of North Alabama and is in the university's Hall of Fame from his days in the late 1980s as a tight end prior to playing for the Tampa Bay Bucs before suffering a career-ending injury.

"I knew that from early on when he was a kid, just how rough he was, his attention to detail and he was a winner back then," Bennie Jennings said. "He was just a fighter. He never gave up on anything. I knew he had that potential in him." "It goes back to being competitive in any and everything you do," Bennie Jennings added. "He doesn't know how to play golf but I bet if I took him out on the golf course it would be a battle. That's the way we've grown up around the house. We were competitive in everything."

Liked this quote on 247:

No runner-up

"Asked who was the runner-up to Tennessee in his recruitment, Jennings said there was no 2nd place and it was all Tennessee".

Don't count this kid out at qb he has the want to and plenty physical ability and if it doesn't work out could be a great safety.

Booooommmmmm!!!!!!!!!

Now we only need to sign two more quarterbacks in the 2015 class.

Good to finally get a player out of Murfreesboro!
