'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

Only five or six guys have broken 4.5 today so Ugo's time is good.

Sounds like these times at UA practice are legit and not inflated like so many times at other camps.

yeah these camps are great - they all run sub 4.4 and then after 3-4 years of college ball and training they hit the combine and run a 4.5 - so overinflated on the measurables

Especially at The Opening. Those numbers are ridiculous.

Yep. Bates' 39" vertical is prime example. Most high flyers in the NBA don't have 39" verticals.

I agree with the skepticism but how do you think they do it on a vert? It's easy to change how you time a 40 but do you think they actually have a mis-labeled measuring stick for the jumps?

I'm not sure to be honest. Not doubting Bates is an outstanding athlete at all, but I watched the Opening and the jumps looked inflated IMO. The athlete stood flat footed in place and then bent their knees and jumped high as they could. Bates being 6'3" with a 39" vertical means he was standing under a basketball goal and standing flatfooted jumped to where his head was 6 inches below the rim??? I just don't see it. Jmo

Good point, I was wondering that myself. Playing devil's advocate, I suppose you could inflate the camper's vertical jumps by failing to raise their hands very high when measuring their standing reach, or by giving them a one or two step start before the jump.

"Tennessee really loves me and the fans love me as well," Amadi said. "They have a new year in 2014 to see what the new guys can do and they might surprise some people."

Amadi works out with a group of players in Nashville that includes current, former and probably future Vols. He said that they're on him about joining Tennessee's class.

"A lot of them try to talk to me just because they I grew up with them they think that there's no reason we shouldn't continue it at the next level," he said. "We'll just have to see how things go."

6. UGO AMADI, CB, NASHVILLE (TENN.) JOHN OVERTON (2015)
Amadi didn't see many balls come his way on Sunday, and the ones that did rarely made it to the intended receiver. Amadi, who also plays quarterback for his high school team, is very technically sound and his closing speed rivals that of any prospect in his class in the Southeast.

Thanks for posting this Ron. Really like this guy's game. I can't imagine us taking that many DBs and would love for him to be one. I heard he did well.

Top player: Ugo Amadi, CB, Nashville (Tenn.) Overton
Amadi doesn’t have quite the upside of a player like Ordway because he doesn’t have the same size and length but Amadi is a pure impact football player. A thick, physical 180 pounds, Amadi showed great hips and quickness and the kind of change of direction that is seeing him being recruited in part as a wildcat quarterback and kick returner.-247 Sports

“Tennessee is coming at me hard, Ole Miss is coming hard but Duke is coming hard too,” Amadi said. “They (Duke) know I can easily go to an SEC school but they know that they want me to be their dynamic player on the field for them and create plays. They don't want me playing just one side of the ball. They want me all over the field. That's very great for me. They say they'll give me freshman year playing time and they want me coming in early as well.”

“Ole Miss said if you want to work hard you can get that early playing time,” he said. “Tennessee says you'll play regardless. It's just a matter of who's in front of you. That's what Coach (Tommy) Thigpen said. He said as long as I'm here, you're gonna play.”
