Maybe it is just my sales and marketing experience talking, but you never walk from a major deal until the door is absolutely shut.

You always have alternatives in the works. However, if there is potential with your primary target, you continue to pursue it.

Richmond has a lot of pressure to commit to Ole Piss but I think the kid is still really on the fence. Give it time, I have a feeling this is going to be another Josh Malone type recruitment.

So the overall feeling going into this is Ole Miss? 247 still has UT as their pick.

Not seeing that. There was a mass flipping last night. Kipp Adams who several weeks ago got inside information that Drew was a Tennessee lean even flipped his CB last night. We won't get the commitment at least for now.

The difference obviously being that Josh Malone did not commit until he was 100%. I see no reason to think Richmond is not 100% in his decision. I have no doubt if Drew had picked UT, people would be saying how firm his commitment is. With him picking Ole Miss, of course UT fans will claim the door is still open.

Only attractive thing about Ole Miss is the tailgating (maybe). You can't even take part in the festivities if your a player... Ole Miss Upside=None.

Do you really believe that? You have said for quite some time, and resonably so, if a kid continues to visit other places they are not really committed. And I highly doubt with all of the meltdowns I have seen the couple of years I've been here that our fan base would calmly sip a latte while Drew was out visiting other schools. There's plenty of reason for me to not buy he is 100% committed.

I fully expect him to pick OM and I fully expect him to stick. Mainly because Butch will find another. I expect Butch's response to Richmond to be something along the lines of "Are you sure this is what you want? We really want you to be a Vol but if not best of luck. If you're sure, I'm going to go find me another left tackle that wants to be a part of a championship team. If you change your mind later it may be too late". I then feel Butch will promptly find another tackle. JMO.

In following the way this staff recruits and there being just a couple of spots left, IMO it won't matter. The class will be full and Richmond signing with Ole Miss or not will probably not matter for UT. That spot that was being held for Drew IMO will be gone shortly.

It should. But it seems like people want to just overreact and freak out if he commits to Ole Miss. Nothing is definite until NSD. But please continue to think negatively if you wish. I personally believe even if he does sign with Ole Miss that CBJ can flip him.

I,for one, believe that Butch will flip him and he will be a Vol come NSD. That's my story and sticking to it. :)

If Richmond announces for UT, but takes an OV to Ole Miss, how firm would you consider his commitment to be?

That's how I see it playing out as well. The spot will quickly be filled.

I'm going off what I hear. If there's a for sure way to figure out what an 18yo kid is going to do IDK it yet. :lolabove:

I think most thought UT had the momentum and would be his likely landing spot until Ole Miss really turned up the pressure on his family. I think the kid still isn't solid if he does commit to them and can be swayed. Definitely get a backup plan but continue to pursue this kid until NSD. I know numbers are tight but we have to shore up the Oline that much is apparent. You can't just take a pass on the best Olineman on your board until the door is closed.
