According to Scout, Justin Hunter (same hometown) has been singing UT's praises to Simmons and is getting his attention.

“Definitely a great program," Simmons told InsideTennessee. "Justin Hunter, I went to high school with him. He went there and went to the NFL. When I talk to Justin, he says Tennessee is a great school. It’s a great coaching staff; they look out for you. Coach (Butch) Jones is a pretty good dude. I love the way he coaches. He really gets after it when he coaches.”

“I’m trying to get down there for a practice or the spring game.”

“I’ve seen my fair share but I definitely think Tennessee will be a standout. That 110,000-person stadium, man. I know it gets people rocking.”

Rivals interview with Farrell....

Hasn't been able to visit a lot of schools recently. Wants to visit Bama, UT, Mich St, tOSU, and Miami. Said he really enjoyed the camp he attended at UT last year. Said Thig showed him a lot of love. Farrell said the one team that he kept hearing with Jahvoni was UT.

" Rivals250 linebacker Jahvoni Simmons talked a lot about Clemson last weekend but Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio State are also some of the programs that have been associated with the Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes star.

He wants to visit Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan State, Miami and some other schools that have offered if he can make it work. Simmons is very close with guys like Andrew Brown, Quin Blanding, Taquan Mizzell and a number of other Virginia Beach products that committed to Virginia."

You guy's might think I'm crazy but ODU is gonna be a big player in the upcoming years. There is a ton of talent that sits right on the doorstep of the ODU campus and it would be ideal for some of these kids that don't wanna leave home to stay close. Think about it. If you were a Va. Kid and you wanted to stay in state would you rather go to the mountains or the beach and play?

I think there is some truth to what you are saying but I think you're overstating it just a bit, at least for the near term future. I think there might be one local kid every couple of years who might have offers from other good schools that decides to stay home but I'm pretty sure most will still think it's worth leaving the area. Plus, although the ODU campus is obviously a whole hell of a lot closer to the beach than UVA or VT, it isn't exactly a Pepperdine situation where you are looking out over the ocean from the classrooms.
