'15 VA OL Matthew Burrell

Hubbs' response to how UT came away from the UF loss still crushing recruiting:

"Jones and his staff do a great job and I'm not taking anything away from him and his staff, but prospects see playing time, a great atmosphere and a fun time.

I thought in 1996 that the loss to Florida would end Tennessee's recruiting class before it ever got started. In attendance that day, Travis Stephens, Jamal Lewis, Fred Weary, Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant and some others."

Deon Grant was soooo good

I never said they were bad players, I just said it hasn't worked well starting them as freshmen in the SEC which is true. I have full faith that they'll develop into great linemen for us but, it would serve them much better to be seasoned before being thrown into the trenches in this league. I understand that some, Kerbyson/Thomas, are playing out of position by necessity. Again, this isn't an indication on their future as players and I know we have to start them out of necessity but that still doesn't make it ideal. That was my point. Starting freshmen OL (Burrell next year) isn't ideal.

Agree. Starting true freshmen is not something we want to happen, but we have no choice at this point. The state of the OL is a mess. It will take at least 2 years to sort it out.

Players haven't been TN fans the past decade so its not devastating loss in their minds. As long as they see a competitive game is all that matters and most of the time they are just watching their position and see how the can help.

If a prospect wasn't impressed with that atmosphere then there is something wrong with them. The crowd was amazing at least on TV. It was loud and rocking and the checker Neyland was fantastic

The stadium was great. It was the loudest game I've been too in many years. I was in a different section closer to the student section instead of behind the recruits so it may just be louder on that side of the field, but the checker Neyland looked great and for a 12:00 game I can't imagine there would be a better atmosphere at any other school in the country.

"@SlimDickens55: @HeaftyLefty Losing isn't fun. I'd go somewhere other than TN." Maybe we could make a change, look at olle miss ?

Go look at that guy's Twitter (SlimDickens). Scroll through his pictures. He's a raaaaaging Vandy fan with all kinds of VU>UT posts and pics. But lately he's been posting up a ton of Ole Miss stuff. Bandwagoner, IMO.

Winning over recruits rarely hinge on team winning the game during their OV.
That is a myth formed mostly by people who play EA Sports NCAA football in dynasty mode

This. The result of the game is negligent. It's all about the facilities tour, the royal treatment, and the party with the players after.
