Bumped to a 4 star on Rivals, #11 receiver
vqUPDATE - DEC. 10: Following his Tennessee visit the Vols, Jones said he liked how the Vol coaching staff had a vision for him to play early in Knoxville. Tennessee and Oklahoma seem the two schools others are chasing at this point, but visits to Notre Dame and Mississippi State could happen in January.
Tennessee linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen was in Georgia most of the week before heading to Hattiesburg, Miss., to check on several players at the Alabama-Mississippi all-star game, most notably wide receiver Velus Jones and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons.
We continue to believe Jones is a Tennessee/Oklahoma battle with Notre Dame and Mississippi State possibly receiving official visits in January. Oklahoma is trying to sell Jones on a proven passing game that put up almost 3,700 yards this season compared to the Vols' passing game that had just over 2,300 yards. It has his attention, along with an aunt and uncle that live closer to campus.
But, the Vols seem to have a strong relationship with Jones and he likes the atmosphere in Knoxville a good deal. The family also likes the distance to Knoxville, about seven hours, much better than the drive to Norman, close to 12 hours.
FSU getting an OV per Warchant.
Everybody on him. I think with what OK is pitching is why TN needs to look at bringing in Canales over upgrading Sheridan. I think there needs to be something to point to that we are indeed going to fix the pass game. A big part of it was no slot WR like Velus due to dumb pig. However being able to point to Canales production with pass game would help. He tends to improve it everywhere
Yes. My concern with Sheridan is that the program needs to at least appear to be taking stronger steps toward improving the passing game. I just wonder if it wouldn't be more beneficial to get a fresh set of eyes back there, be it Canales, Loeffler, or whoever.
Given the way QB recruiting has looked over the past 12 months and seeing Guarantano's father's comments this week, I would lean towards keeping Sheridan on staff as QB coach.

Yes. It's not that I hate the move. Obviously there's a lot to be said for the consistency there. Also the comfort level between him and other coaches, players, and recruits seems strong. By most accounts he was pretty heavily involved in coaching the QB's, and the idea of having a fresh set of eyes on the passing game is really my only concern there.
Struggled mightily at the Mississippi/Alabama all star game apparently. Lots of drops during practice and a dropped TD today at the game. Rivals already isn't high on him and they kinda drug it on this week. Rivals ranked USC 12th out of 12 teams that had commits playing in the game because he had such a poor weekSure is a popular guy for being the 62nd ranked WR. Rivals getting lazy it seems.
