Heck of a job by both Pruitt and Smart convincing this kid that his future is in the secondary and not with the ball in his hands.

Which is ridiculous considering the fact that the 2 best wide receivers in the nfl right now (Antonio Brown/Odell Beckham Jr.) are about his size.

kinda nuts huh? kid is most gifted athlete in this class. Hes been butch's priority. doesnt make a lot of sense. Thought he was high on us at one pt. i get 'thats recruiting' but this one has been odd.

My personal opinion. Pruitt sold it to him and everyone else but us pick up the signals and fell in line with the DB pitch with a WR package. I get that feeling that he ends up WR full time when he starts practicing wherever he goes

Yep. Thats clearly what I meant

Whether it's what you intended or not, it is the clear effect of your 'inoculate yourself against disappointment by giving up in advance' self management strategy.

Hardman is almost certainly going to UGA and he clearly loves playing the game. He has also spent a lot of time at UT and has relationships here he values. No need to invest any emotional capital in the kid but pretending he has no interest in UT is not being real.

And we saw how that turned out for him. I would use that example all day long.

Pruitt will be gone in 2 years most likely.

It's sad that kids still haven't gotten the idea that you don't commit to a coach because they could be gone the very next year, and then they might be stuck. Oh well

Mecole Hardman said he doesn't care if he plays defensive back or receiver in college, but that right now he's leaning towards defensive back because that's where most are wanting him. I asked if that means Tennessee isn't as attractive and he said he can still see himself as a receiver, too. He said Tennessee hasn't talked to him about playing both sides of the ball or just corner, only wideout.

In talking to him today, I think he takes a visit to Alabama on Jan. 15. I think he likes Tennessee, but his relationship with Pruitt is starting to win out. He did say he will talk to his parents about what trip he wants to take and said he hasn't decided what he's going to do, but the feeling I got was that Alabama is the likely destination for that trip just based on our conversation.

I think it is time to move on here.

Was thinking today, Saban is a genius, got Pruitt and Smart working on game planning for the playoff games. No wonder they shut out MSU.

Would love to see him go to NFL and leave Bama paying Pruitts brand new contract with 3 weeks to recruit before NSD.

It's unreal how on Pruitt's teet he is. Good luck to the kid though, but coordinators and assistants come and go so fast and it looks like he is 100% committing to Pruitt and not to a school. He doesn't rave about the schools too often in his interviews, most of the time it's about Pruitt. His interest in Alabama skyrocketed the moment Pruitt got hired.

Oh well. Would have loved to have this kid but I never saw us having a realistic shot. Maybe Butch should have done what everyone else did and convince him he can play defense and then just convert him to receiver when he gets here and gets beat out.

I mean Butch gave Jennings a legit shot at QB, but Jennings smartened up and saw his future was at receiver. Maybe Butch should have taken that approach.

I hope he goes to Bama since he def ain't coming here. Bad fit for him at Bama. He will get wasted. Don't see Saban playing him at CB.
