Like all football programs, we have had some kids that come from some, lets say below average backgrounds, and have taken full advantage of the HUGE opportunity that is a football scholarship to a major university. And like all football programs, there have been guys that just can't pull their head out of their azz and blow away a HUGE opportunity.

This happens everywhere.

Another angle to think about with his recruitment is maybe he doesn't want to only live 20 minutes from home during college. Many kids use college as their reason to go out on their own and grow up. It is very hard to do that when home is that close. With this in mind, it would make sense as to why he would keep his commitment to TN silent as long as possible.

That's one angle I had considered. The article said he barely talks about UT anymore but he seems to visit quite frequently. The silent makes it even more suggestive that it might be a commitment that will not sit well with the locals.

I'm not sure there are a lot of TN fans in and around Athens. Maybe there are, but I am skeptical. I live in Suwanee and there are quite a few in my area, but I live about an hour away.

Mom brings up an interesting point. She says you always remember the first one referring to Georgia bringing up him playing on defense first.

Well weren't we the first ones to offer Mecole? Mom may have unknowingly just tipped their hand where Mecole is leaning right now. Great family and great young man. Really hope he chooses us.

Mecole wants to keep it silent because he does not want the local UGA fans blowing him him. His mom's comments seem to be slightly dated. They understand that Mecole can be dynamic at WR if he focuses there. Still a 60/40 race though for us, up from 40/60 a couple months ago. Their family knows Richt. As Butch gets to know them better, our odds will only increase. We have the mo.

Someone put this Doodie guy on a leash before his house of cards comes tumbling down. Dont think Ive ever seen an "insider" so adamant about convincing people that he actually is one.

Really, really, really need for momma to get on campus so she can get to know Butch better.

I don't see the point of a silent commitment to the home town team. At the same time I highly doubt he can make a silent commitment without everyone finding out who he did it to.
