Cal was his leader despite what Zero and other Dawgs believed. He wanted Stanford but took the next best thing. Kudos to the kid for picking a great education over good football.

They think they are getting Gibbs too! Their level of homerism is the standard bearer for all homerism.

Cal's nothing to sneeze at...academic wise. :geek:

True, #1 public school I believe by some rankings, which is why I doubt he takes engineering there. His SAT was below the avg. It is great to have big dreams but unless you are accustomed to total dedication to academics and all that requires, it's going to be a big adjustment to make. The kid switched out of an academic school to a lower one to raise his GPA instead of just working harder.

This is one strange recruitment and the kid admitted it may not be over yet. So did his 'guardian'. Kid has blazing speed.

lol yeah, just weird that his brother is playing helicopter mom. We all know that parent at the ball field trying to live their dream thru their kids, in this case, his brother. Kid apparently wanted Bama. His brother is setting him up to fail. Kid is a 2.5 GPA student. Zero football players at Cal take engineering there. Not saying Bama is an easier degree, wait, yes I am. 2.5 and he can be valedictorian at Bama (kidding, kind of).

Obtaining an engineering degree from any accredited engineering school is not easy. And for good reason. We all intrust our lives to an engineer everyday we hop in a car and drive over a bypass/bridge. Planes not crashing. Buildings not collapsing. Etc..

Almost 3 months after NSD, how much time does he have to muddle? Don't they start enrolling next month? Smart going to delay Summer arrivals to try to flip this kid on his way to Berkeley? Seriously, I thought this was his personal signing day and he signed his LOI.

Cal / Stanford don't provide the same level of academic support for athletes provided in the SEC / ACC. I think they view their students as being above needing all the academic hand holding, tutors, etc. He'll have to be on his academic game to be successful there IMHO.

Yet all of those things happen anyway. Not bashing engineers, but disasters happen even to well engineered structures. Sometimes it is the low bid builder or the autoworker or the cheap Chinese products that cause the disaster.

I eat Chinese sometimes so this offends me.

He waited to long to sign LOI, signing period ended in April. Has to sign financial aid FAA papers like EE do. He has signed those with GT, GA, and CAL. He could just walk on any of those campuses in June and start class.

I really don't think that's how it works. Of course the last high profile example of this happening so late, that I remember was Terrelle Pryor.
