Just so you know I was saying this before he committed and many on here thought we had a chance.
I've also not been high on former commits like Hunter Johnson (when he was still committed to us).
Nothing against Kyle but I'm big on measureables. And for me a 6'2" or shorter receiver needs to run a 4.50 or below for me to think that he's elite. Kyle runs in the mid-4.6 range, hence my skepticism.
Measurables are important and all, but a 4.6 or 4.7 guy can still be really successful in the college game or even the NFL (though that is admittedly much, much rarer) if their other skills are honed enough to make up for it.
Anquan Boldin was a 4.7 guy. Mohammed Sanu was a 4.6 guy. Brandon Lloyd was a 4.6 guy. Jerry Rice ran a 4.7.
Also, high school 40 times can be totally bogus. Dobbs was listed as running a 4.9 coming out of high school and we all know he's faster than that.
Good points but those guys are outliers. Look I'm not saying it's impossible that Kyle Davis can't be a superstar. I'm just saying the odds are against him of he's just another 4.6 guy.
I also don't like QBs shorter than 6'2" but you don't need to tell me Russell Wilson and Drew Brees are shorter than that but still successful.
There are always outliers. But typical trends are what they are. Typical.
Is that really necessary? The guy's just stating his opinion.
