Vols Legacy Warrior Picks Tennessee

Yet another highly ranked Tennessee legacy will be following in his father’s footsteps by playing for the Vols.

Top-100 defensive back Nigel Warrior of Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Ga., who’s the son of former Tennessee star Dale Carter, announced Wednesday morning that he will sign with the Vols, choosing his father’s alma mater over Auburn, Alabama and LSU on National Signing Day.

Warrior gave Tennessee its 19th known commitment for the 2016 class and its second from an elite defensive back in less than 12 hours. Top-100 cornerback Tyler Byrd of Naples (Fla.) High School decommitted from Miami and committed to the Vols on Tuesday night.

“There’s just something different about Tennessee,” Warrior said before traveling to Tennessee last weekend on his fifth and final official visit. “I really don’t know (what it is). It’s just different.”

The 6-foot, 186-pound Warrior became the latest of several Vols legacies who have chosen to play for Tennessee coach Butch Jones’ staff...

...Warrior said last week that Jones’ staff has “treated me like family” throughout the recruiting process.

“They’re relaxed around me,” said Warrior, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 58 overall prospect and No. 4 safety in the 247Sports Composite for the 2016 class. “They’re not being coaches around me. Even though we talk about football, they’re not being coaches.”
