I can imagine coaches sit around in meetings and match recruits up with current players that share their interest and personalities ..some might go to prayer group while others are coming in from the clubs at 4:30am :)

no doubt these are the guys that make the SEC the best conference..and Bama has been able to send them through in waves...we haven't but might if we land these two

+1. When a defense can impose it's will upon an offense, by dictating what you cannot do (ie, run up the middle or stand in the pocket long enough for a QB to go through his progressions), it's a pretty scary thing.

If we sign Brown, I do believe we will have arrived at a point where we have the kind of elite DL talent and depth to dictate to every offense we face...."You will not be able to run on us, and your QB will have no time to stand in the pocket."

I think you would have to admit Obrien has been an average SEC DT. Not stellar, nor bad. Piccou was pretty undersized and that's why I don't think they wanted to play him, this past season. Hopefully he has a good offseason in the S&C program, but I have to wonder if he isn't better suited as a heavy DE utilized on obvious running downs?

I'd be really interested to see Brown playing beside KMac. Bama has to play in Neyland this season, and I can see them finally dreading to have to play that game for once, in a long while.

Forgot about Alexis. Wasn't he a 5*? Would brown make 4 5* DT on the same team? For 2 straight years? That would be silly.

I totally disagree with your memory of many sports writers and commentators across the country saying conservative play calling was the reason for those losses. I don't really care what anyone who doesn't have the slightest idea about all the intricate details of our offense or the game plan thinks about those games. I do in fact knkw people that do work in the field who believe that the defense failed. I think some of you guys really believe that you know more than someone who actually lives football 365 days a year for a living.

No. He's been a 4* all along. You are thinking Kongbo, who was both Juco and is a 5* on one service. That would still be quite a feat. Not sure if it's already been posted on here or not, but this is a pretty good article on how critical Brown is to this class. Pretty much what I've been saying. With him and Alexis Johnson, we'd have a stand-out pair to rotate regularly with KMac and Tuttle. Without him, we have to settle for average depth.

Sorry, but you would be wrong. Alabama is a perfect example. When you have elite DTs that stop the run, pressure the QB and tackle on an elite level, it severely limits an offense. In most cases when an offense becomes one dimensional, its much easier to scheme for.

Burnin-Thanks for the info. Those who regularly follow this forum know you bring solid info and nothing is concrete until the LOI is signed. Please keep sharing what you hear.

In your opinion does the NCAA allegations at Ole Miss perhaps change our outlook with Kongbo? Surely it makes him at least raise an eyebrow.

When I originally heard him to Ole Miss was a lock I had not heard anything about the Ncaa alligations or the LOI that they received. I thing that this whole recruitment has been very odd. I do believe it changes quite abit and hopefully in our favor. I am not saying he is all Vol but I am saying we have way more than a punchers chance now.
