This is actually my first time on campus," said Price, one of the many standouts at Archer High School in Atlanta-area Lawrenceville. "A lot of other recruits have visited the campus, and they told me all about it and how they loved it out here, and it was awesome. It was a great experience for me to get out here. They let me know that next year, their left tackle (Kyler Kerbyson) is gonna be graduating, and their in big need for a tackle, and the coaches told me if I came in and worked hard, that theres an opportunity for me to make an immediate impact. Thats what I look forward to doing. I understand that nothings gonna be given to me regardless of my ranking in high school, but I definitely want to just come in here or wherever I go and just go in there and work hard and hopefully getting a starting spot my freshman year. That being a need for them, thats definitely gonna be something thats interesting for me.
"Coach Butch Jones is gonna be upfront with you, and Coach Mahoney, hes gonna be upfront with you. Theyve been like that from the beginning, and I always appreciate that. You know, you can kind of go somewhere and kind of get the feeling that theyre trying to give you the used car salesman pitch, and youre like, That sounds good, coach, but you know, really? But here, I mean, theyre gonna tell you how it is, you know?
Coaches tell recruits what they want to hear.
He told him that if he worked hard he could have impact early. Is the OL so well established with quality depth that you disagree with that statement, and if not, is your intention to cast doubts on the intentions of our coaches, or simply to suggest that all coaches have an uneasy relationship with the truth?
Referring to Kerbyson starting. He may very well start, but it is a lot easier to say "a senior is the starting LT and there is a place for you to come in and get serious playing time" than "Kerbyson is one of 3-4 guys that could start at LT, including a true freshman who may have the spot for 3-4 years."
Yes, I think all college coaches lie.
All college coaches are salesmen. All salesmen create perspective. Bad salesmen or salesmen with bad products create the desired perspective by lying. Good salesmen with good products don't need to lie to create the desired perspective. I think we have a pretty great product and we do not have a robust OL depth chart.
Not sure why he thinks all recruits/signees are locks to be good. There is not a proven guy that is a lock to replace kerbyson so how the heck someone can call that lying is mind blowing. That's thinking like Dooley. You recruit to better your team and do not take things for granted. no guareentees in football and you must recruit that way
Just saying.. UGA staff made him decommit after the incident and Auburn isn't touching him, so they might be "tied at the top" but he won't be playing for either team unless something drastic happensYou have 4 posts, including this one, and they are all about UGA. So forgive me if I don't take your word about this "sticky fingers" rumor. Thanks for stopping by though.
