#16 Georgia @ Missouri

One thing it's doing is teaching Georgia players how to win games and build confidence. Something Dooley was never able to do.

But yeah, I agree, Georgia could easily be 0-3 or 1-2 right now

Yeah. I mean I don't he's going to be another Dooley. It's hard to suck that badly. Lol. I think he will do about the same as Richt did in all honesty.

Eason won the game.....but he's still a true freshman and he'll still play like it at times.

I could see that. Richt was never able to get over the hump. I bet Richt has better success at Miami, especially playing in the ACC

Mizzou got way to conservative on offense.

When you throw 3-4 picks in the half, I'm not sure how you can keep going to the passing game.

It got to the point where any time Lock put the ball into the air, the only time a completion came was when a UGA player picked it off.

I'm pretty sure the second half saw the QB that started the first half with 322 yards throw 3 completions and 3 interceptions, mostly because he kept trying to risk it/force it into tight windows or double coverage.

Wth Mizzou...you had them.

Mizzou must have borrowed Butch's 4th quarter playbook...

No, they borrowed from the "history of Missouri pre-Pinkel" playbook, which is :ahem:

"When leading in a big game, you find a way to lose in the end; It matters not whether it be by a silly string of turnovers, a last-minute TD, a shanked FG in double OT, an inability to push the ball in 4 times from the 1-yard line in a 3-point game, a player from the other team kicking the ball into the air so his teammate can catch it, or the referees accidentally giving the other team a 5th down with which to score the game-winning TD. In the end, find a way to lose."

Based on the factors, losing a great head coach, their AD, and just the general screwed up state of the atmosphere on Mizzou's campus I expected them to end up competing for the worst team in the SEC. Looks like I was wrong.

Looking at their schedule (still have UF, Arky, LSU, UT) they're going to finish around 5-7 or 6-6.

Now by the looks of it, they're going to be that pretty good 5-6 win team that's going to be headaches/handfuls week in and week out for most everyone they play from here on out, but if they couldn't pull this one off that was practically gifted to them...I can't see them beating the other 4 I mentioned either.

They're showing a really weird tendency of not playing well the first half, but then there are the proper adjustments and suddenly - albeit messily - things are clicking enough and they're getting the win.

(...a kind of trend that in an odd way can also be worrisome to opposition because if it all works out for them in the end this season, it can turn into quite the momentum upwards for making/solidifying the kind of program the new coach was brought in to build)

Exactly what I was conveying

We're in trouble with them too. Lock looks like Marino and that front 7 looks like the 85 Bears.

I'm not as concerned. Lock can play well, but he's also shown a terrible tendency towards making mistakes by attempting to throw passes he shouldn't into double coverage or riskily trying to fit them into a smaller windows than he should, resulting in multiple INTs from forced throws. That's the kind of play a defense should look forward to (and that would give defensive backs quite a good day).

(Also, that offense only seeing the field for like 20 min total is a number that should really work in our favor in the later parts of our game with them.)

The battle for the East is a trail of tears

So far it looks pretty ugly, what a wasted opportunity wasted if we don't win it.

With at least LSU down the road, I think this loss likely put Missouri out of it though.

It's a shame though; being already a game up on UGA while we're still struggling (or finding ourselves) on offense would have been pretty helpful.

Plus. The time we face Mizzou, they may already be in shutdown mode. Depending on how some games go.

With how they played tonight, though, they should probably still beat their other two OOC games, Vandy, and one would think one or both UK and USCe (they're just not going to win the UF or LSU types of games).

We're likely to be looking at either a 6-4 Missouri team trying to play for a better bowl game or a 5-5 team playing their last two games trying to get a bow bid, so I'm somewhat doubtful they're going to be in shutdown/ just get the season over with mode by our November game.

(Now if they somehow manage to lose 2 of the 3 against UK, USCe, and Vanderbilt...might be a different story. But with how they and those 3 have been playing so far, I'm not sure that's currently a "likely" outcome without either major injuries or one of those other 3 suddenly just doing an about face and clicking on all fronts.)

This Saturday just feels like it was a huge day/night for UGA as far as moving towards a chance to win the East Division in Smart's first year.

I just now saw highlights from this game. Just wow! I had no idea Missouri had a very close shot at beating Georgia. I'm not sure what to take from that game. Ether Georgia isn't that good or Missouri has really improved. There's not much I can say other than it looks like both teams have more of a passing game than us.

UGA isn't very good imo. Mizzou has imporved from last year. But they aren't anything crazy. QB is a turnover machine. Lol
