Hill is expected to make an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. He was already expected to take one earlier in the year but back off of that at the last minute. Hill decommitted from Penn State earlier this week and that opened up the door for the Vols and several others like Michigan and Michigan State.
Official visit date: Dec. 4
Other teams in the mix: Ohio State, Southern Cal, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State

UPDATE - DEC. 10: Hill seemed surprised by what he saw at Tennessee this past weekend and the Vols have definitely become a team to watch. But, he still has official visits to Ohio State and Southern Cal set for January. But, he and Corley have been liking the Vols recently, can that withstand the test of time and other visits?

My Michigan buddy misunderstood what he was reading in regards to Hill. Hill is taking an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend, but he has not announced a date for commitment

Some good news (assuming that it is accurate) is that from looking at the Michigan board is that Corley has not visited there according to some posters on their rivals site. If they are going to go somewhere together it doesn't seem like it would be there.

"Shoop may take 3 assistants with him and probably LaVert Hill, if he wants him."

On PSU board they're discussing the fall out of Shoop to UT scenario. Several recruits could be affected.

I could see Corley coming here if LaVert Hill comes. That would be totally awesome!

If Jancek departs, how does it affect our current commitments including Kongbo?? Not good. John Jancek is a solid DC. Why make a change now? Timing is horrible if this actually happens.

You know, there was a LOT of heat on Butch, Debord and Janzek, after those 3 late game cave in's. It greatly affected the trajectory of this season. One which should have had us in the SECC game.

I have to wonder if CBJ didn't ask Janzek to look around for an opening, as he was going to have to make a change at DC. Subsequently, the defense has been somewhere between decent and above average.

It would seem to be the only plausible scenario, if Janzek does indeed leave for CSU. That's a pretty big step down, and you just don't do that in the coaching profession unless you are forced to.

Shoop would be a home run hire. Continuity is good but this would be an upgrade.

That's why good recruiters and coaches get kids to commit to a school and not a coach.

When I read it at first I didn't think anything of it but in the Buchanan guys commitment article he said he talks to Croom a lot and Croom told him to commit to the school not a coach. I know it likely has nothing to do with this but interesting nonetheless

Croom is likely speaking of his own personal experience.

Now is the time to do it IMO. When Butch brought in Jancek I was convinced we'd never reach championship level under him. Now he's surprised me and done better than I expected, but still don't see us reaching that next level. I think this season showed that.

Butch seems to have met his first objectives with this program - change the culture, restock the roster, and demonstrate positive trending results in every aspect. Next step is breaking thru that glass ceiling, and I would be disappointed if he weren't recognizing that and doing everything possible to gain every advantage possible.

If he can replace our slightly better than average DC with an elite one, now is the time. That's the difference in those 4 losses this year IMO. A championship defense regains momentum with big plays when the opponent threatens. We only did that once this year, against a 3-win, demoralized, coach-less team.

I don't know if Shoop is the answer but now is the time to make a move if one is available. Recruiting will take care of itself. JMO.
