'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson(Hudson, N.C./South Caldwell) said Florida State and Tennessee still stick out following his Florida official visit.
"Those are the top ones," Dickerson said. "They are the most consistent and that's a big part."

Dickerson said he still plans to officially visit Alabama this weekend.
He said he will visit Tennessee or Georgia January 29.
Dickerson has already officially visited Auburn and Florida State.
Dickerson said he feels Florida's staff including McElwain will stop by his school Thursday.
He said Georgia will be his home Monday morning and Alabama is slated to come by Monday afternoon.
He said Auburn is due by Wednesday.
"I think FSU and Tennessee are coming by next week," Dickerson said.

You tend to forget how ridiculous the recruiting process is for these kids. Yeah, it's a blast, but you're gone every weekend and coaches are knocking on your door every day in January.

It might not matter if we're in second if we get the official. I would personally rather be in second and get the last OV,than first with no OV left. JMO.

How can we be in the top 2 and he hasn't decided to officially visit. Doesn't make sense to me for there to be a question of whether or not to officially visit your top 2 team. Just doesn't make sense!

Yep, nailed it. He is just playing the game. Unless he has been on campus unofficially several times I highly doubt he comes to UT without a visit but it has happened before.

I'm almost certain he's been on campus several times. I think he attended a game in the fall. He's very familiar with everything UT.

Per 247 he has been here 3 times in the past year. North Texas and South Carolina games and the orange and white game back in the spring.

Yes, he visited us on back to back weekends in November. His only visit to FSU was on Oct 10 on an official according to 247.

Maybe because he has been to Knoxville multiple times and has never been to Athens? Stranger things have happened in recruiting.

Taking or not taking official visits is not a deciding factor for a player.

For those new to recruiting:

There are a limited number of official visits a program can offer to recruits in a year. Some recruits take unofficial visits to gauge their interest in a school without the red carpet being rolled out. Some recruits take unoffficials to assist the preferred program by freeing up an official for the coaches to use with another recruit. I do not know if that is the case with Landon. But he has been to UT on at least 3 occasions on unofficial visits. He has probably completed his due diligence on the engineering side of the academics. If what he has said about that subject is true as well as that he has been to campus multiple times, it is clear that UT is in the top 2 and is probably his ultimate choice. All while not taking an official. Hope this helps.

It's happened before. If a guy lives close the OV vs the UOV isn't a big deal for some. It's usually guys who are not considering others at all. Looking at it play out I could also see where a kid would choose to not take an OV late if he isn't going to your school and has already made his decision, just not publicly. I could see where a kid would be uncomfortable taking that OV to his second choice and getting the VIP treatment when he knows he's not choosing that school and has a good relationship with that staff. Now an OV to uga that weekend with a school he could not care less about might be an easier trip to make and have a good time.

I would love to see Dickerson choose us. I just don't think it's lining up.

So you already have his itinerary for the 29th?

Why would UGA get that visit? Their engineering program is subpar to UT.

FSU's is second tiered compared to UT. Greg Phillips posted about it somewhere on VN. If the degree is the big thing for him as far as choice of schools and it is down to FSU, GA, or UT, then UT wins this one.
