Grant Williams led his team to the Hoodies House Championship, first local team to ever win the national event, had 14pts 11rbd 5ast 3blk and was named tournament MVP. This event had Romello White, Rayshaun Hammonds, Darius Perry among many other nationally ranked guys, awesome to see our signee bring home the honors.

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes is getting a PF who handed out some big assist today. #serving @GrantWillPds @Vol_Hoops
When I saw this, I was immediately transported back to a less pleasant time where we had basketball players in the news for....well...not serving others. Barnes is rebuilding this program. Won't be quick and it won't be easy, but he's laying the foundation and changing the attitude and culture it appears. Things will be much more solid for his successor. Bet we have a lot more interest and a far easier time with the next hire due to Barnes efforts. Glad we have him.
I was only to stand the choppy feed I was getting for the last four minutes of the 1st quarter and first four minutes of the 2nd quarter.
In that time, Williams looked like he owned the court. Fulkerson looked average athletically, hovered around the perimeter too much IMO, and made some silly errors including inexplicably trying to save the ball from going out of bounds on an air ball under the opponents basket and stepping on the baseline. Not sure why he tried to save it as it was obvious (to me) that it would have been Christ School's ball.
Long story short, and granted it was a very limited sample size, Williams looked impressive and carried his team, while Fulkerson didn't have his best game in the time I watched. Based on Fulk's stat lines from this season, what I saw seems to have been an aberration.
Attended the Providence Day vs. Christ School matchup featuring future Vols and wanted to share my thoughts with this dedicated fan base.
First I will start with Grant Williams. He is a big boy. From lookoing at picutres and seeing him in previous years, I thought he was a bit chubby, but he seems like a solid rick wall. Fulkerson had a bit of trouble getting position on him.
Even with his size, Grant was able to maneuver Greenie defenders with ease grabbing offensive rebounds and throwing down two dunks, including one on a leak out. At the end of the game with his team down one, they ran an isolation play for Grant. He got fouled and hit two huge free throws to put them up one. Ice in his veins.
Fulkerson on the other hand is a good player, with incredible defensive awareness. I was surprised at his defensive footwork and ability to stay with guards. He scored six points in the first two minutes, two buckets on post moves against Grant Williams.
Fulkerson seemed a bit hesitant to shoot shots outside the paint. From what I have seen, he can knock those shots down, but after a couple of misses from inside the paint, he didn't want to force the outside shot. He finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks and 2 assists.
He picked up a couple of ticky tack fouls with limited his ability to battle in the post, but I really believe all this kid needs is about 15 pounds. I think he can contribute right away, but could be a big time player by his Junior year.
Thanks for the info. Did you see much interaction between Grant and Full?
Yeah, they were talking a bit before the game. Nothing during the game. Both were competing for sure. Fulkerson didn't guard him defensively, presumably not wanting to pick up fouls. All of Fulkersons' points outside of a steal and dunk came on Grant.
