I think with so many players opting out of the bowl games and let’s face it some of these bowls are pretty meaningless if your team isn’t in the playoff. I believe it’s time to expand it to 16 teams and play 11 regular season games instead of 12. What do you guys think? I wouldn’t want to go to more than 16 teams though.
Yes. Except this would be a 1960’s or 70’s version of March Madness where the team that won the conference tournament got in the CFP and would take 1 of 12 or 16 spots not 1 of 68. I think there would need to be some rules in place that you need to be at least a top 20 ranked to be in a team CFP or top 15 in a 12 team CFP.you mean, like......march madness?
Michigan showed that they dont belong either.6 Team playoffs. Power 5 Champions, and one team voted in by all Power 5 teams.
Cincinnati showed that Group of 5 just doesn't even belong anymore.
I'd go back to the old system..............No playoffs. Period.Michigan showed that they dont belong either.
The playoffs have always averaged margin of victory over 20 points.
Bama beat Cincinnati 27 to 6. 21 point difference.
Georgia beat Michigan 34 to 11. 23 point difference.
This is my point constantly. Who would have been a better game than those in it?
Ohio State? Lost to Michigan by a lot.
Notre Dame? Lost to Cinci.
Baylor?
Utah?
Clemson?
How would an expanded playoff help with blowouts in the semifinals?
It made college football unique...in a bad way. And it would be "fun" until you thought the polls screwed you out of a national title. It was one thing that made college football unique..... It wasn't perfect by any stretch, but it was fun.
