'16 TN ATH JoeJuan Williams

I don't see JJW coming to UT. It's not that I don't think he doesn't like it, but he (and a 2017 kid) have a certain and similar issue. It's not with themselves but ones they associate themselves with. I say this because of some conversations I had with former Vol and Bama players a few weeks ago. We'll see once this recruitment is over to see if the accusations have any merit. But, those conversations did put some puzzle pieces together.

That's consistent with something I heard as well. I have a friend whose son played with JW before the transfer to Hendersonville. He said he didn't think Williams would end up at UT because of a handler. I asked who the handler was, but my friend didn't know the name. I'm hoping the move to Hendersonville might create some distance and put him in a more pro-UT environment.

Also, who is the 2017 kid?

Why does it seem like some top players in TN have handlers? The top players in alabama are staying home, do they have handlers?

Probably coaches of other teams pointing out JRM and Cortez who both came in as safeties and are now LBs.

I don't see how that would be negative recruiting. Have those coaches watched JRM play. I expect a lot of the same from Cortez. Elliott Berry is also cut from the same cloth.

Maybe someone around the Nashville area can answer this for me... Is Jalen Ramsey's dad the handler??

Possibly. I remember now that you say this that there was some top DB in Nashville area that trains with Ramsey's dad. People were saying whoever it is would be hard to get to TN because of that. I don't recall who it was though.

If I told you who the 2017 kid was, you'd know almost immediately. I'd like for the situation to play itself out before telling you guys what's going on.

Fantastic question and I'm trying to figure out the same thing. These kids got themselves these offers, not anyone else.

As with everything, just got to follow the money if you can find it.

That makes the most sense. Since the ncaa prohibits schools giving cash, except for bama under saban, then these players should be prohibited having handlers. They seem to play as an agent. No way they do it for free with the type of money going around in big time college football. Family or guardian acting as an agent would be different story. They are an influence to their kid

I'll never claim to have inside info but handlers go for the best players, regardless of the state, who have the best potential for payoff down the line. That'd be why IMO

I would've thought an environment like Father Ryan could've kept him more "focused" for lack of a better word and not as susceptible/vulnerable to situations like that. Coach Lussier is a UT alum and was an east TN staple in HS football before coming to FRHS. Would've been nice having him push for us.

I have no idea really. I was just grasping at straws and hoping for some reason to feel optimistic.

Per Woody Womack

"I'm going to Georgia on the 18th for Dawg Night and I'm trying to get to Florida State and I want to visit Tennessee again. Auburn and LSU are also schools I want to see again. All the visits are going to be crucial when it comes time to cut my list."

Over the past few recruiting cycles Tennessee has made in-state prospects a priority so Williams said it's not a surprise they are still heavily pursuing him as well. "They've always been showing me love," Williams said. "They've always been pretty high on me. It's an in-state school and Coach Jones is turning the program around, the Nike uniforms are pretty cool and with the way everything's going it's like a complete 180." While he will be attention to see how the Vols progress in Year 3 under Jones, he said on-field performance won't factor into his decision. "It really doesn't matter right now because they're still really young," Williams said of Tennessee. "They've got all the best recruits so I know they'll be great in a couple of years. I have to get up there some more. I've never been to game before so I have to see that atmosphere so that's on the list for sure." With so many moving parts in play, Williams isn't quite sure when he will cut his list, but he is already eying a December decision. "I'm in the process of breaking down to five and I will probably do it soon," he said. "It will be at the end of the summer. I want to commit December 6 but if I get an invite to an all-star game I'll probably wait and commit there."

If some of the yahoos on the VQ hasn't ran corner off, maybe we will get some solid inside information during JoeJuan's recruitment.

1. Joejuan williams - williams almost matched warrior on big plays, with two interceptions of his own and eight pass breakups thursday. Williams used his size and closing speed to cut off routes throughout the day, providing cornerback-like coverage on short and intermediate routes. Williams seems to be in wait-and-see mode as far as his top schools go. He will be at dawg night next weekend.
